Beginnings

The last few days have been a lot of fun.. I have been hanging out with Ebnet and his cousin Jansi, who is in her second year BCA at my college too.

Why has it been fun to hang out with them? Well mainly because they are not like most of the people in my college and also because they like to hang out after classes rather than go home and sleep like the rest of the rag tag bunch at my college.

The first day we hung out was quite an accident... I think. Jansi had just given her presentation on Computer networks after the inauguration of the It Bytes magazine that was released this year. I have an article in the magazine too and I am sub editor.. ha ha.. I think I am the only one who wrote an article the rest of the stories are just collected from online sources and local computer magazines. Oh well, its not that great a magazine.. especially when you have errors in the title of the articles on the third page of your magazine. I wonder who does the editing.. since I don't because I found out I was sub editor only when I opened the magazine.

Anyway, Jancy did a good job with her presentation except that the person handling her power point presentation screwed up the timing of her slides. Ebnet was sitting with me and we were sort of embarrassed for her but the show went on smoothly once she stopped caring about her slides. After the presentation I met up with Jancy and Ebnet and we decided to head home together. They asked me to join them for a snack at 7 Bees which is this cozy restaurant in Udupi. I've been there once before with Griffith and found it to be very comfortable. Once there we started talking and didn't stop until it was 7. I think we spent about 2 hours there and I can say that none of the time spent there was boring to me. So once I got home I messaged them about the fun I had with them. They had a great time too and we decided that we would have to do it again sometime.

Who knew that Thursday would be the day?

We met up for lunch at Dollops in Manipal. There was an addition to our group in the form of Varun. He was uncomfortable with the idea of going to lunch with Ebnet and Jancy since he didn't know them but I managed to convince him to come along. He was very glad that he did.

Ebnet is a quiet person but you feel very comfortable in his company. Once you get to know him you realize that he has a lot of things to talk about and talking with him is great fun. Jancy is quite cool in her own way and its really nice talking to her because she has lived in Saudi too and hence we can share certain experiences about our life there.

Lunch was excellent... normally its just good.. but I think the company that we had at Dollops yesterday made the food taste even better. Once we had paid the bill we just sat there because we had some much fun talking that we didn't want to leave... at least I didn't.t..

So i suggested that we should head over to Coffee Days in the MAHE campus and have some desserts or coffee or something and just hang out. I Like coffee days not just because of the coffee but because of the ambiance of the place. I feel relaxed and comfortable there and thought that it would be an excellent place to continue our conversation. Everyone agreed to go there and so we walked through the pouring rain to reach the coffee days that is situated in the lobby of the MAHE library.

There were very few people there when we arrived so we chose a nice comfy corner to sit at. They should have more sofa's there to lounge on.. because they are normally taken by couples.. and I like sitting there because it is warm and comfortable. So we ended up sitting at a table near the corner window of the cafe which presented us a nice view of the college campus and the students running around hurriedly.

The three of us, Jancy, Ebnet and Me had Irish Coffee while Varun decided to have hot chocolate to warm himself p since it was getting really cold all around us. The weather has been really bad for the past few days. It has been raining all day and its not even hard rain just drizzling and thats even ore annoying. Its been cloudy and I just feel lazy during times like these.

The coffee was really good and so I decided to have some cheesecake. I love cheesecake and its been a long time since I have had any. So I ordered a strawberry cheesecake for myself since no one else wanted anything. It looked different from all the cheesecakes that I have previously tried in the many hotels of the world... but I was feeling adventurous. I had my first bite and I felt like I was tasting fine wine because I started describing the texture and feel of the cheese and the other ingredients of the cake. Everyone had a good laugh at this point.

Once the cheesecake was done we all just sat around and spoke about a million things. Music, movies, parents, Friends, college.. and our aunts and uncles too!!! Thats something we all have in common.. we all live with our aunts and uncles and all of us have something to compare them with among each other. That topic itself took a while to cover since we inadvertently kept coming back to them.

We decided to leave the Cafe at 6 since Varun had to be back in an hour to help out with the chores at home. So we all got a bus and headed back to Udupi to catch our respective buses home. The bus stand welcomed us with heavy rain. It had started pouring and it seemed like it would stay this way for the rest of the night.

All of us had a great time just hanging out and talking. Its been a long time since I have hung out with like minded people and so I really enjoyed myself with them.

Well I have to start studying for my midterms which start on the 18th of this month. So wish me luck...
