...really!

Solar eclipse

For the first time since 1954, Norway has experienced a full solar eclipse. Well, actually the full eclipse could only be seen on the island Kvitøya, north east of Svalbard.
Down here in Oslo, the eclipse was about 50%. Not visible to the naked eye, but then again - who would stare at the sun with their naked eyes anyway...

Luckily, I actually had a camera with me at work today. Of course, I don't have any solar filters or fancy equipment to be able to take pro photos, but I took a couple anyway just to see how they came out.

Warning! Do not stare into photograph! p:

You know it's the silly season when...Charging battery...

I stared into the photograph and something stared back. :insane:.

Always loved the expression "naked eye". It makes me wonder if people ever made clothes for them...

"August is an eclipse season this year. The new moon of the 1st and the full moon of the 18th are both eclipsed."
Excellent, more to come then.

I only heard of the eclipse too late. A girl I know told me that she had been up into the Round Tower, and they had some kind of glasses there that people could borrow, so they could look up at the sun.
I wish I had known, because I was pretty close to the Round Tower at that hour.

It's a cool photo, Rose!

Thanks Mik. I wouldn't want the forehead effect to wear off so the change was well overdue... p:

Dannii - :D.

Rap - I'll try to remember gazing up at the moon on the 18th .

Thanks Kimmie :D. Even though Nibbler is a he, he kind of represents me in the way of talking nonsensical jibberish, except for the occasional intelligent slip up . Of course, that's when I have to erase your memories p:.
Not sure I'll keep him long, but he'll do for now.

Thanks Cynthia .

Tilla - I didn't have those special glasses either, but it would be cool to have seen it with them.
And thank you .

There was solar eclipse here few years ago, during summer I think and I remember I was out in the street when it started. It became semi dark and a cold breeze suddenly came out of nowhere. It lasted for about 2 minutes, then everything was like nothing happened. I liked it
Didn`t know there will be eclipse again this year - but I am probably too south for this one.

r♡se 2. August 2008, 15:31

I have never experienced a full eclipse. That must be pretty cool :D.
The one yesterday wasn't noticable without special equipment even if it was a 50% eclipse here... It didn't get dark, and the temperetaure didn't drop more than a couple of degrees.

Darko 2. August 2008, 15:34

Oh sorry, I meant cool breeze, not cold :left: But it was windy suddenly and that was the most of the fun.... and darkness :D

r♡se 2. August 2008, 15:52

I think it gets quite cold when it's a full eclipse. And all the aminals fall silent. I imagine it as if time would stop. Cool :D.
