...really!

Buy Nothing Day

Today it's International Buy Nothing Day in Europe (it was yesterday in North America).
The day is a protest against consumerism, and is trying to make people more aware of their shopping habits.

I am definitely not much of a shopper in the first place, but today day I'm even taking it one step further by returning a top I bought earlier this week (only to later find out I really didn't want it) :D.

:sst: Surely, a moccha :coffee: from the local coffee shop isn't included in "nothing"...?

Phew! Only european right? :left: I bought a bread earlier and now found out I almost got stoned! :insane:

Moesring 29. November 2008, 11:38

It will be very easy for me not to buy anything today - I never do my shopping on a Saturday anyway. P:

rose-marie 29. November 2008, 11:54

 Cois. I think food should be allowed .

Moe - Me neither. Too many people around, causing loooong queues :ko:.
One of the things I miss most with Sweden is the Sunday-open shops. Not much people around and everything is a lot calmer...

Cois 29. November 2008, 11:59

Food you say? :left: oops..

rose-marie 29. November 2008, 12:12

That would be anything you can put in your mouth... :right:

OkayPJs 29. November 2008, 13:00

But... But... I need apples... And eggs! And bread! :frown: . And credit!

Furie 29. November 2008, 13:36

We're trend-setters who defy convention. See you when we get back from the shops. :D

Zaphira 29. November 2008, 13:42

You tell me this now?! After I came home from shopping... Homer: Doh!

Cois 29. November 2008, 14:15

Anything that can be put in mouth eh..
Where does flavoured condoms fall in the picture? :sherlock:

rose-marie 29. November 2008, 14:26

PJ - that all sounds like food to me. Yes, even the credit .

Mik - I just came back from the city too. Lots of trendsetters there it seems :left:.

Zap - Did you get anything exciting? Because then it counts as edible p:.

Cois - I really don't know .

Cois 29. November 2008, 14:31

So go buy some woman!

rose-marie 29. November 2008, 14:34

Zaphira 29. November 2008, 15:07

I won't reveal what I bought. But I surely wouldn't count it as edible! :left:

rose-marie 29. November 2008, 15:24

Of course Issy .

Oohoo, I'm getting curious now, Zap p:.

Zaphira 29. November 2008, 15:28

Well, it shouldn't be very hard to guess, really. :D

rose-marie 29. November 2008, 15:33

gdare 29. November 2008, 17:54

Cois 30. November 2008, 08:15

Its national Don't go to toilet day in South Africa today :insane: the government wants to save flush water

Dacotah 30. November 2008, 10:07

:yuck:

clean 30. November 2008, 11:32

We're encouraged to not flush every time here (for a 'number one') ... not because of the drought, or anything ... just because we like the country to smell bad ...

rose-marie 30. November 2008, 12:42

Mart - Interesting... I mean sure, you do "buy" something, but the transaction doesn't necessarily take place immediately... I'd say it's ok :D.

Aadil - I'm sure it will p:.

Darko - That's the best reason not to spend anything :D.

Phantom - Eeew!

Cois - Was it you? Did it go in your mouth? :left:

David - Sounds like another good reason .

Furie 30. November 2008, 17:29

*empties mop bucket full of Clint's menstrual blood*
No it wasn't.

rose-marie 30. November 2008, 17:39

Eeew, why did you empty that in your blog? :yuck:

Furie 30. November 2008, 17:47

rose-marie 1. December 2008, 07:43

 Poor girl!

But why keep menstrual blood in a bucket? :left:

Furie 1. December 2008, 10:56

Why not? Most british girls do. Darko, Clint and Moe found that out with their early christmas present.

gdare 1. December 2008, 12:58

:faint:

rose-marie 1. December 2008, 18:42

Eeew :ko:

Suntana 1. December 2008, 19:09

WHAT, Cois? You almost got stoned from eating a piece of bread? You almost got HIGH from a piece of bread? p: I've heard of Brownies laced with Marijuana, but BREAD?

Ohhhhh! You mean the other kind of stoned. Homer: Doh!

clean 1. December 2008, 23:56

Hmm ... there's a link on Reddit about a woman on DeviantArt who does her paintings in her own menstrual blood (and ink). One of the commenters said:

It could be considered creative or experimental if the chosen meduim added to or enhanced the work, but this is all very run of the mill stuff. Which leaves the fact that she used her period to make it as its sole defining quality. If it does something for you, then great. It doesn't do it for me.

Y'know ... while we're on the subject ...

rose-marie 2. December 2008, 08:21

Carlos - There's another kind? :left:
You shouldn't mess with stones, though. They are the number one source of energy in Africa :D.

David - That's disgusting. I remember going to a Warhol exhibition, There was this huge painting on which he had pissed. Didn't do anything for me either. I just don't get the whole "create art with your bodily fluids" thing...

clean 2. December 2008, 10:43

Me neither. Which is why this was so befuddling ...

rose-marie 2. December 2008, 11:36

Wow... An award winner, nothing less!

wickedlizard 2. December 2008, 16:30

:left:

That's disgusting. Can you imagine someone buying that to put on their wall... :yuck:
