...really!

Feeling Hot! Hot! Hot!

,

Oslo is boiling these days, and I would be lying if I said I didn't love it...

General holidays are right around the corner, and the city is starting to empty more and more.
With degrees around 30 Celsius (that would be around F86), and a sun that doesn't set until it's almost time for it to rise again, there's really no other option than to be outdoors as much as possible.
After all - this is what I have been whining about wanting to have since this last horrible winter.

Also - who knows when the summer will end this time. Will we have summer for two weeks this year? A whole month? Is this it, or can we finally look forward to a long summer here too?
In order to really be sure of getting that sweet summer taste, I will not be around as much as usual these days. I am aware of the number of feeds already building up, but hey - bad weather will be coming sooner than I hope and then I'll be running around this place bugging you all so much you'll wish I had summer again!

*gets picnik basket and SPF ready*

I'll catch up with you soon!

It's Midsummer Eve again!Plus one

Go, girl!

r♡se 29. June 2009, 14:05

 I'm on my way!

Darko 29. June 2009, 14:26

Enjoy, have a nice sunny days and make some photos :D

Santa Furie 29. June 2009, 14:36

awww

Carol 29. June 2009, 14:42

Too hot for me. :D
Enjoy your picnic.

Kitty 29. June 2009, 17:49

That's 5 degrees more than we get these days. awww
*considers to move to Oslo*

I enjoy the warm weather too - and I surely hope that we will get more than 2 weeks of summer this year.

Peter 29. June 2009, 20:55

It's hot here too, hot and sticky but I'm not complaining.
I just got all my white shirts out of the cupboard and my fridge is working overtime.
Enjoy the sun everybody and don't forget the suntan oil. (factor 40 or higher)

David Scott Aubrey 29. June 2009, 23:38

30? 30's almost cold! Brisk, even! p:

Have fun!

Phantom2 30. June 2009, 05:55

Enjoy the sun a warmth.
 I know you appreciate a summer day more than me as the winters are very mild and not very long here.

r♡se 30. June 2009, 09:33

Darko - Thank you, I sure will  I'm not quite as sure about taking pictures, though... p:

No need to feel sorry. Mik - I actually like the hot weather. :D

Thanks Carol . I think around 30 is ok, but around 40 would be too much. I do enjoy my picniks, thank you. Ice tea, water, white wine, salty sticks, peaches... What's not to like?

Yay Zappy :hat:! This could turn out to be the greatest summer! Temperatures above 30 and you moving here
I'm hoping for more than two weeks too, but here you just never know...

Good to hear you aren't complaining, Peter p:. Yay for sunprotection!

 David! How warm does it get down under anyway? Not generally, but in your area.

Thanks P2!
You could be right. Six months (or so) of winter takes its toll and probably makes us appreciate the summer even more. However, I know of people who love winter so much, they go to the mountains during the summer too. We have winter skiing here, so it can be close to 30 degrees up in the mountains, but the snow on the ground is still natural, and skiable.

Santa Furie 30. June 2009, 11:31

We want you running round annoying us already. We like you running round annoying us. awww

Carol 30. June 2009, 14:18

You are welcome Rose-Marie, what are salty sticks?

David Scott Aubrey 30. June 2009, 14:50

In summer it can get to 32 on average, but has gone as high as 43 (officially - unofficially, when I was holding a thermometer - in the shade - outside one day it got to 49). :faint: It's not common, but 32 - 35-plus in summer is common.

Winter it's rare to drop below 0, though it does happen (in south-east Queensland, anyway). Average of 3 - 10 at night. 18 - 24 during the day.

Bud McDonnell 30. June 2009, 15:05

@Carol - I always thought "Salty Sticks" were pretzels but I found this recipe and it doesn't sound like any pretzel recipe that I know of. Guess we gotta wait for Rose.

Moesring 30. June 2009, 17:17

Oslo is boiling these days, and I would be lying if I said I didn't love it...

There are clearly some strange people living in Oslo if they are loving the hot weather.
:sst: Everyone prefers being cool to being hot - that's why there is a  and there isn't a :hot: P::happy:

In any case, know that I pity you. I've been melting in temperatures of mid twenties so it must be even worse for you. You're just putting a brave face on your suffering. awww:left:

Kimberly 30. June 2009, 22:04

tc and be careful Rose

r♡se 1. July 2009, 11:58

Awww, Mik! Cute! But be careful what you wish for... :D

Carol & Bud - I don't know what you would call these in the US, but perhaps they are like pretzels, only straight? p: They look like this: and are called salty sticks in Swedish. The party snack that just went on and on but never out of style :D.

David - Thank you so much for writing that in Celsius!
32-35 is quite rare here, which is why this time feels extra good. 49 would be waaaay too much - even for me! :faint:
I wouldn't mind having your winters... awww

Moe - If that's considered being strange, then write me up
:eyes: Is my (brave) face melting already? :left: :worried:

Squeaky - Thanks :D. If I'm so lucky to be able to spend a day outdoors (thank you, stupid job), I am careful and wear sun protection.

David Scott Aubrey 1. July 2009, 14:11

Celcius is the standard for us, Rosie! There was a song not too long before I was born sung to Click Go the Shears:

"In come the dollars, in come the cents,
Out go the pounds, the shillings and the pence,
So be prepared and get ready for the switch
on the fourteenth of February, 1966".

That was (IMO) the start of conversion to metric, which (officially) took from 1970 to 1988. The Wikipedia article in that link really only concerns weights and measures, but - IMO - I think changing from the 'old currency' of pounds and suchlike to the newer dollars and cents should really be considered the first aspect of the change; it was all modernizing ...

I remember being taught Imperial measurements in grade one and two (1976 and 1977), then it switching to metric in grade 3 (1978). Only confused us ever so slightly ...

In 1972, the system was introduced to primary schools ...

Yeah ... um ... ignore that bit ... :left: :right:

Darko 1. July 2009, 14:40

"salty sticks" are called "grisine" here. Do you remember that word, Rose?

Gavin Sheedy 1. July 2009, 14:49

We did both at school, though, to further complicate matters, I think that ye lot use a different imperial system. :psmurf:

Carol 1. July 2009, 14:55

They are called pretzels here.

Peter 1. July 2009, 15:01

Was it Bush that nearly got killed by a pretzel? :ko:

Bud McDonnell 1. July 2009, 15:12

Yup. :zip:

r♡se 1. July 2009, 16:33

Oh, sorry David... I didn't know that. Didn't think the queen would allow anything other than imperial units...

No, Darko, I don't. But it's almost like the brand of Italian breadsticks here - Grisini. :D

Gavin - So... you had to solve mathematical problems and such twice? :left:

Ah - thanks Carol . Even though I had a hunch it might be the same, I thought that pretzels were soft-ish.

Peter & Bud - I haven't heard about that! :eyes:

Bud McDonnell 1. July 2009, 16:50

Here we have both hard and soft pretzels. And yes, the buffoon went unconscience choking on a hard pretzel.

Darko 1. July 2009, 17:08

I think the name is Italian, indeed

You are welcome Rose-Marie.

Gavin Sheedy 1. July 2009, 21:27

How is the self-cooking going? :D I've learned that 25 degrees in Copenhagen is a lot hotter than 31 in Göteborg! I stayed for a lot of today in order to recover.

r♡se 2. July 2009, 08:08

Poor pretzels... So close, yet so far away. awww

Darko - I think it means breadstick, actually... :D

Peter, Carol -

It's going fine thanks, Gavin. I think 31 degrees in Oslo is warmer than the same was in Malmö. Probably because the wind always blows down there.
Unfortunatley, the outlook for next week looks bad with rain and lower temperatures. :frown:

Carol 2. July 2009, 13:55

  :D

Kimmie 3. July 2009, 21:12

Why was I not notified to this? :irked: . I hope you're enjoying the sun, delicious-foreheadious flirt

Gavin Sheedy 3. July 2009, 21:14

... the temperature or the pretzels? :D And you were, otherwise you wouldn't have written that comment :O

Kimmie 3. July 2009, 21:20

I'm confuzzled. Are you talking to moi? :left:

Moesring 3. July 2009, 21:22

I'm confuzzled too, but that is nothing unusual. awww
:sst: And yes, I am talking to the great purple one.

If it starts melting, I can think of plenty of people with forehead fetishes that would love to help you out.

Kimmie 3. July 2009, 21:25

Not you, silly

Gavin Sheedy 3. July 2009, 21:30

I am talking to you  And confuzzled sounds good. If you're confuzzled, you can't be bored, right? :D

Moesring 3. July 2009, 21:30

I know who you mean, Kimmie - but I wanted to make sure that you know that my interjection was directed at you, in case it wasn't obvious.

Gavin Sheedy 3. July 2009, 21:31

Even I got that :D

Kimmie 3. July 2009, 21:43

Argh! Look, you two. My hair colour may be purple, but the roots are blonde! Blonde! I am stupid underneath my IQ! . Anyway, to respond:
I wasn't notified - I came here directly because I'd not seen anything here for a while :left: . Moe, I know you knew, you know p:

Moesring 3. July 2009, 21:47

You know, I didn't know that you knew that I knew. awww:cry:

My hair colour may be purple

And eye colour.

Gavin Sheedy 3. July 2009, 21:47

I don't believe you. I, in fact, accuse you of being smart. The fact that you dyed your hair purple proves it p:

Kimmie 3. July 2009, 21:50

Moe - I thought your eyes were purple p: .

Garlingmatthews - well, you've just earned about 50 points for Purple Appreciation  . But - as I am naturally fair-haired, the laws of half the jokes in existence say I must be a stupido awww

Moesring 3. July 2009, 21:54

Only because I was trying to emulate Your Purpleness.

Gavin Sheedy 3. July 2009, 21:55

Mm... but those jokes were made up by jealous non-fair-haired people who lacked the imagination to dye their hair. And I may be brown-haired now, but I was a blond kid, so any-one making blond jokes... is... stupid...

Kimmie 3. July 2009, 21:59

Moe - but my eyes are... Well... I'm not sure what colour predominates the three.

Garlingmatthews - actually I find blonde jokes funny p: . But I never wanted to be blonde - doesn't suit me  . I think my hair will also go brown as I get older

Now I will stop taking over the comments! Sorry Rosie! :frown:

Moesring 3. July 2009, 22:02

I'm not sure what colour predominates the three.

I say your predominant colour is purple. I even had proof of it in the form of "special versions" of the eye pictures you uploaded a while ago.

Now I will stop taking over the comments! Sorry Rosie! :frown:

She won't complain. If anything, I imagine that she'd be flattered. I know that I would be honoured if you hijacked my comments (hint hint ).

Kimmie 3. July 2009, 22:04

Really? I start getting a little narky when people go off chatting about nothing on my page. That said, it's usually when I have had to spend 5 minutes loading just to find a 20-comment-long to-and-fro consisting mainly of smileys.

Moesring 3. July 2009, 22:09

I feel cheated out of a *slap* awww
I'd said the most flattery-whore-ish thing I could think of and everything.

By the way, you're still commandeering her comments.
