rose's random rambly writings

...really!

Promp! Plask!

I was out looking for a present for my godson who just turned four. On my way to the toy store, I passed a book store presenting lots of children's books in the shop window. Even though he can't read (well, not Norwegian anyway), I saw some pop-up books and remembered how I used to love those as a kid and decided to stop and glance on what they had.
That was pretty scary...
Apparently, kids today are supposed to learn to go the toilet with the help of a pop-up book!
And what's a bit more disturbing than them actually writing the sounds that would be heard when having a bowel movement in colourful speech bubbles, is learning the children to hang the toilet paper the wrong way! :insane:

I bought him Lego.

Things that reminded me of you...Waffle Thursday...

 Oh my, never seen a pop up book like that.

Good choice in buying him Legos. :D

rose-marie 19. September 2009, 11:20

Me neither! The pop-up books from my days were much nicer I think. :D

I think the Lego was way better too

Dacotah 19. September 2009, 11:22

:D

 Legos are the better way to go. :D

garlingmatthews 19. September 2009, 11:27

Bizarre.

rose-marie 19. September 2009, 11:29

Carol - I think he'll learn more from playing with Lego .

Gavin - And to think this is the generation that's going to help us to the toilet when we're old! :insane:

Zaphira 19. September 2009, 11:31

Hahahaha, I would have bought Lego as well.

(you just inspired me - there's a post I need to make... P:)

garlingmatthews 19. September 2009, 11:34

That's it, I'm going into rock and roll and dying young.

Um, nearly young.

rose-marie 19. September 2009, 11:40

Zap - I hope most sane people would do that!
Looking forward to that post, although I have no idea what it will contain. Promp? p:

Gavin - Or get really, really old and hope the next generation will be brought up better .

Cois 19. September 2009, 12:07

You didn't show the turd as it pops up awww.
Good choice on the Lego!

Zaphira 19. September 2009, 12:19

*giggles* No Rose, not Promp. But bogeymen!

Spaggyj 19. September 2009, 12:33

That's horrific :insane:

Hermitess 19. September 2009, 12:38

:insane: That's a disturbing little pop up book. Like I'd want a boy with a bowl cut who puts tp on the wrong way and has odd promp noise bubbles directed at his bum popping up at me!

You know, this generation that will be seeing us to the restroom will also be the ones cleaning us up if they don't do it right the first time. That'll teach 'em. Think there's a pop up book for that? :eyes:

Cois 19. September 2009, 12:51

Is there a pop-up book for circumcision? :sherlock: a little barmitsfa[sp?] tutorial for the child that has a deathly fear of being cut down there. :insane: ye gods I'm cringing

Tamil 19. September 2009, 14:01

:insane:

SqueakeyCat 19. September 2009, 15:50

good choice, bad book

gdare 19. September 2009, 16:26

I just hope Lego is not with a toilet theme :insane:

ellinidata 19. September 2009, 16:27

when my kids were very young I bought the the book
"Everybody poops"

very funny and well written for children ...

:D no noise graphics

Phantom2 19. September 2009, 17:03

"I bought him Lego."

Be glad the boy in the book wasn't dropping his pants and sitting down as the page opens

If you want to see an amazing pop-up book, find the "Wizard of Oz".

Dacotah 19. September 2009, 17:20

Rose-Marie, well he sure will learn funner stuff with Legos.
:D
Since he's four he's already potty trained isn't he?
He might like to play on Lego's website:
http://www.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx

Dacotah 19. September 2009, 17:26

:hat: Congratulations Rose-Marie :hat:

rose-marie 19. September 2009, 17:29

Ewww, Cois!
:sst: I didn't go inside to examine this book further. I see there are other pop-up things on the bathroom floor but I hope none of them is a poop! :eyes:

Zap - A bogeyman? That sounds a bit scary... nervous
But I'm still looking forward to it

Isn't it just, Kimmie?

Herm - I was thinking... doesn't the kid in the book look a little too old to be having to learn how to use the toilet? :left:
And  you're right about them having to clean it up! I didn't think of that.

Cois again - Perhaps there is. One of those you have to go back and forth to make the knife move :insane:!

Hey Tamil. I suppose not everybody can be a natural... :D

Hi Kim .

 Darko. No, actually it was a pirate themed Lego :raider:

That looks like an interesting book, Angeliki! How in the world does an apple poop? :eyes:

Now there's a visual I'd rather be without, P2!
The Wizard of Oz you say... :sherlock: I'll keep my eyes open, thanks.

rose-marie 19. September 2009, 17:30

Carol - I don't know if he's potty trained or not, but I sure hope so for his parent's sake
Thanks for the link!
And thanks for grats :D.

Dacotah 19. September 2009, 17:34

I sure hope he is too at 4.
You are welcome.
 And to many more.

rose-marie 19. September 2009, 17:38

Yay to many more

Dacotah 19. September 2009, 17:45

:hat: Yay

Hermitess 19. September 2009, 17:49

I used to babysit a little girl who was 5. She knew to go to the toilet but she wanted me to wipe her. And when I did she told me I did it wrong. I told her to do it herself then. :worried:

I'm really not a kid person.

Moesring 19. September 2009, 18:10

I love foreign onomatopoeia because of how other languages manage to add extraneous or otherwise seemingly-illogical letters to the same sound. I'll probably spend a whole two minutes or so trying to figure out how a "k" managed to sneak its way into the word "plask". :left:

 Instead of buying Lego, perhaps you should have bought one of the Lego video games. In this day and age, I daresay that it would be more appreciated than traditional Lego bricks. awww

:sst: Your new picture scares me.

Dacotah 19. September 2009, 18:16

Moe, kids love to build even in this day an age.

Rapunzel 19. September 2009, 19:43

That book scares me :eyes:

Cois 19. September 2009, 22:03

*splish* dainty little turds aren't they?

Furie 19. September 2009, 22:03

I was going to bring you an Operaversary Cake in the shape of the topic of this post, but then I read it. :insane: Where would I ever get a LEGO-shaped cake?

birds and animals poop the seeds after they eat the apple  and the little ones start learning early all about it, neat no?

Zaphira 20. September 2009, 04:57

The post about Bogeymen is up!

I got pooped by a bird yesterday :left:

rose-marie 20. September 2009, 10:18

Haha! Thanks for the martinis, Carol .

That's funny, Herm. I'm not a kid person either, but sometimes I'm a kid magnet. I think they're like cats - they sense who wouldn't like having them in their lap and go there :eyes:.

Moe - Personally, I would have used the word "plums" instead of "plask". But I'm glad I could steal two minutes of your time...
:sst: I suggest you don't look at the picture if it scares you.

Carol - I agree. Maybe I'm naive, but I'd like to think that fouryearolds still like their LEGO .

Cois - I wouldn't know. I don't look at them! p:

Rap - That's a seriously cool cake mould

Mik - I appreciate the thought, but I'd appreciate a cake from the mould above even more

Angeliki - Ah! I thought they meant that apples poop too!

Zap - Heading over in a minute .

 Darko!

in my country it is considered good luck!

Dacotah 20. September 2009, 16:12

You are right Rose-Marie. Parents (in general) should let their kids play with toys other than video games.
I think they should be limited.

gdare 20. September 2009, 17:19

Angeliki, in Serbia too  So I am just waiting for something nice to happen

Rapunzel 20. September 2009, 18:30

In my country we say.
"Birdie birdie in the sky, just be glad that cows can't fly!"

rose-marie 20. September 2009, 20:41

I don't know if getting pooped on by a bird is considered to be lucky here, and I don't really want to find out either... p:

Carol - I'm not sure they should be limited, but they should definitely have an option .

Rap -
Isn't there a flying nun in NZ too? :eyes:

Dacotah 20. September 2009, 20:54

Dacotah 20. September 2009, 20:56

Do you like my martini glasses?

rose-marie 20. September 2009, 20:58

So much so, they were the first thing mentioned in a previous comment

Dacotah 20. September 2009, 23:05

Oops, sorry, didn't see that one. :D
Happy you liked them.

Dacotah 20. September 2009, 23:07

You are welcome, there for you.
May-be someday I will be able to have my first martini with you.

qlue 20. September 2009, 23:23

I don't recall any pop-up books as a kid, but I'm sure we never had that one! :insane:.

unlisted 21. September 2009, 01:38

Rose, what do you think about the book "Valtyr Prumpuhundur"?

qlue 21. September 2009, 04:38

:eyes:. Society is doomed! awww.
