rose's random rambly writings

...really!

Ramblings!

,

 WOOO!
* I finally got me a new phone. After having had my SE Z610i for well over two years, it was time to let it have its well deserved retirement. So - I got a HTC Hero and man! is it a world of difference! (Yes yes, feel free to laugh at me! I never knew how smart smartphones really were... :o:) I love it, and I've only just begun discovering it!

* I have a ton of work these days. The WOOO part is that some of it is very fun and challenging. I like that... makes it feel less stressful. The fun part involves things I've never done before which makes the challenging part. On Monday I'm going to present a bit of my labour - keep your fingers crossed!

* Coffee moccha is one of the greatest inventions of all time. I love living 50 metres from the closest coffee bar (and around 70 metres to the second closest)!

* I have Swedish dill and chive crisps! :yum:

 BOOO!
* I got the mother of all paper cuts yesterday. It stretches over almost half my left middle finger and IT HURTS! It was actually cut by some of the documents I've prepared for the Monday presentation so now I have both sweated and bled over it. Let's hope there won't be tears! *knocks on wood*

* The weather we're having is really depressing. I'm so eletrical I keep getting shocks when I touch metal. Also, my lips feel like sandpaper again a couple of minutes after I've moistured them.

* A downside to the presentation on Monday is that I have to catch a flight early in the morning which means I have to get up über early. It has kind of ruined the weekend for me, as I keep thinking on how early I have to get up.

The last few days in other smilies...
:hat: It was Mik's birthday on Thursday. I missed it here, but I've had "Happy Birthday Stubbles" as my status for three days so I hope that makes up for it . I hope you had a grand day!
:yikes: While walking off the tracks in the woods on Saturday, it very quickly went dark. Lighting the way with a small flashlight, there suddenly was a loud growl 5-6 metres to the right. I stopped and my first thought was wolf. Another growl, and the flashlight was turned towards the sound. Two eyes were flashing back and I thought that it probably was time to pick up the pace and head towards the trail (which wasn't far away now). But then - a small little brown head materialized between to tree trunks. A little brown dog head. Although it didn't growl more, it didn't seem to want to be disturbed so we left it there. I wonder if it was a wild dog or if it was just lost so close to the trail...
:D A week ago it was the big cinema day in Norway. I don't go to the cinema very often, but tickets to half price and free candy managed to drag me out.
awww This last week has been all about Berlin in the media. For those of you who have missed it, on Monday it was 20 years ago they teared down the wall. Seeing all the reports, happy people and documentaries had me longing back there. Ich bin ein Berliner!

Last but not least - a big  to you! I hope you have a great weekend!

You know you're a child of the 80's when...Papercuts waiting to happen...

Lycka till! Och oooooow :frown:

Moesring 14. November 2009, 12:44

I see a worrying omission in the "last few days in smilies" section.

There is no :Martini: in the list. Homer: Doh!awww

*pours her a :Martini: to make up for it *

rose-marie 14. November 2009, 12:48

Tack Gavin :D.

Gah! I knew I had forgotten something. Thanks Moe! I'm having it later this evening

Dacotah 14. November 2009, 13:47

Congratulations on your new phone.
Sorry about your weather. awww
Try some http://www.drugstore.com/qxp15781_333181_sespider/blistex/lip_medex_lip_moisturizer.htm
Fingers crossed, sorry about the paper cut. Ouchie. Hugs.
:coffee: close by that's good. :D
 On getting up über early Monday.
:yikes: :faint: Close call you had walking.
What movie did you see? Did you like it? What was the free candy they gave? Was it good?
Yes, seen the Berlin anniversary.
BIG  to you.
Miss you.

rose-marie 14. November 2009, 13:59

 Whoa! That's quite a comment, Carol! Thank you!

I use something similar to Blistex, and although it helps for the moment, the lips quickly dry up again. It sucks!
I saw a Swedish movie called "The Girl Who Played With Fire". Kitty did a review on it a while back. It was ok :D.
The candy was chocolate and sour pastilles :yum: .

garlingmatthews 14. November 2009, 14:00

I wonder if I'm not being too critical of that film.

Dacotah 14. November 2009, 14:02

 You are welcome Rose-Marie.

:D

Spaggyj 14. November 2009, 14:28

You've been so busy again - and your work injured you! Mean work awww . I loved that status you put up. Congrats on the new phone - I'm so jealous p: . I use Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula lip balm - it's clear and thick, not sticky, comes in a tube and tastes of chocolate mint  works really well x

Stomyr 14. November 2009, 19:03

Congrats on your phone (I need one too - LOL) After 2 weeks of bad weather today we had some sunshine  - hope you'll get yours soon

rose-marie 14. November 2009, 19:11

Gavin - Maybe so...? To be honest, I didn't remember very much from the book until I watched the movie, so I went in there with an open mind. I've heard others saying it wasn't good at all, but I don't regret going .

 Good, Carol!

YES, Kimme! Mean work! Finally, somebody who understands .
I use vaseline on my lips (hehe) - especially before going to bed. It makes them really soft for the next morning. But then - out in this weather, get electrecuted, frizzy hair and chappy lips. Mmm... yum!
Thanks for the tip, though. Chocolate mint sounds great

Thanks Stomyr, I hope so too . And we got a little snow yesterday. Of course, today's rain has washed most of it away, but I know how much you like it so I'll trade with you anyway p:.

Stomyr 14. November 2009, 19:14

*Looks out of the window* (8:13 PM here :D )

Hmm - I'd trade the fog here to rain I think :D

rose-marie 14. November 2009, 19:24

Deal! I'd rather have fog than rain

gdare 14. November 2009, 19:29

I thought Hero is a male`s phone  If it was for girls it would be pink P:
Anyway, i am glad you have a new phone and that the life is good for you. Well, except for that early morning flight (can you sleep in a plane?) and paper cut :insane: Everyone who ever got paper cut knows how much it hurts :ko:

Zaphira 14. November 2009, 19:37

The worst thing about the getting up early and doing the presentation is that I get the thought "so close and yet so far away"... you know what I mean. awww

Good luck - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, and I know it's going great!

My lips have been dry too, and my hands. *sighs* awww

Furie 14. November 2009, 19:42

Ooo, new phone and some other stuff that happened. p: One of us, one of us, one of us.

rose-marie 14. November 2009, 20:45

Darko - That was actually one of the things that made me insecure about the phone. The urban brown (what kind of colour is that anyway  ) looks so masculine. And I'm not going anywhere near the white one so... I guess I'm butch awww
Oh, normal paper cuts has nothing on this one! :insane: My finger is swollen, and it's a double cut.
I got another one at the same time, on my little finger, but I don't feel that one. The big one still hurts. I can't even do the dishes... :D

I know, Kitty :frown:. That's even worse than having to get up before five in the morning!
Thanks for the good luck :D. I use a good hand creme, so they're ok. Maybe I should try it on my lips too... p:

 I wouldn't go so far Mik. At least not yet .

You look so happy about it

rose-marie 14. November 2009, 20:55

Of course
Who likes doing the dishes?

gdare 14. November 2009, 21:09

Not me, either :D

Furie 14. November 2009, 21:13

Come play with us Rosie, forever and ever..
:sst: Then look up an app called Picsay.

Furie 14. November 2009, 21:29

Mocha, phones and papercuts that do more damage than chainsaw accidents? You're turning into me! :yikes:

Spaggyj 14. November 2009, 21:59

Does sound like one hell of a work injury though :frown: . Bad paper  . I've seen tiny tubs of vaseline for facial purposes actually, do you have one of those? People rate them very highly :D

Dacotah 14. November 2009, 22:46

The little growling dog could have been a werewolf. You should've let it bite you so you, too, could become a werewolf. Then you could've taken advantage of the super fast healing that things like werewolves have and gotten rid of your paper cut in seconds.

And then you could've gone on a rampage at work, biting people. Blood is great for chapped lips ...

rose-marie 15. November 2009, 10:29

Darko - So you see what I mean, then :D.

:yikes: Now there's a hell of a scary thought, Mik!
*checks face* Hmm.. no stubbles!
*checks hair* Nope, still not as long as yours.
Oh - and I have two nipples

Thansk for the app tip . I'm still using the mac for any photo editing.

Kimmie - It's nothing fancy at all. In fact - is this one:Works wonders! :D

Hey Carol . I hope you're feeling better!

Welcome back Tamil - and thanks :D.

 Didn't think of that, David. But I remember the last time I was a werewolf. I can't stand the itching! p:

clean 15. November 2009, 10:36

 I remember that one!

rose-marie 15. November 2009, 10:51

Haha! That's cool :D. I didn't until I read werewolf...

Furie 15. November 2009, 12:48

It's not everywhere that a comment like "last time I was a werewolf" just slides into the conversation.

garlingmatthews 15. November 2009, 12:59

More's the pity. Newsnight would be so much more fun.

Dacotah 15. November 2009, 13:07

Hi Rose-Marie, the pain isn't as bad as it has been.

rose-marie 16. November 2009, 04:31

Isn't that just great, Mik?

I guess Newsnight would be the equivalent to the watched list here... p:

I'm happy to hear that, Carol. I hope it continues that way .

Gah! It's 5:30 in the morning.. :ko:

Dacotah 16. November 2009, 05:01

Thanks Rose-Marie, it was short lived. Today was not a good day pain wise.

theoddbod 17. November 2009, 07:47

*taps foot waiting for proper phone review* p:

rose-marie 17. November 2009, 09:27

How frustrating, Carol. I do hope they find an answer real soon!

Mart - the little green android robot thing is sooooo cute!
There! That's the best I can do. p:

Dacotah 17. November 2009, 10:23

Cois 18. November 2009, 06:54

 :left: :right: morning semi-werewolves.. p:

rose-marie 18. November 2009, 08:12

It shall be interesting to see who answers your call, full-werewolf!

Furie 18. November 2009, 10:52

Review! :knight:

rose-marie 18. November 2009, 11:57

Ok, ok... p: A few things so far.
1) I love the little green android
2) Google Maps keeps placing me in Moscow as soon as I enter the door to my apartment. Very weird, because it works fine everywhere else (or I'm the fastest woman alive) :insane:
3) I really like the search button.
4) I get notified about e-mails faster on the phone than on gmail.
5) Syncing contacts from phone to google takes forever (or overnight).

Stomyr 18. November 2009, 12:48

Hmmm :sherlock: - Maybe it implies that you should live in Moscow? :D

Or Maybe parallel dimension? :D

rose-marie 18. November 2009, 17:29

Oh, njet! :insane:
The weather widget updates me on the Moscow weather, so I don't think I should live there... p:

Stomyr 18. November 2009, 19:28

xD Who knows? :left::right:

Furie 18. November 2009, 20:20

I've heard that a lot from Android owners. For some reason the mail shows up faster than on the website.

There's a chance that Google Maps is running off your wi-fi instead of your GPS when you enter the flat and getting confused.

Fastest woman alive eh? I'll get to work on a half-latex costume for you to fight crime in.

rose-marie 18. November 2009, 21:28

Stomyr - KGB? nervous

Mik - It runs on the wi-fi at home, but I've tried to disconnect everything (mobile network + wi-fi) and it still shows Moscow. It's only when it can't get a stable GPS signal in the flat, though.
Otherwise I have to say the GPS is very accurate :D.

Oooh, half-latex, eh? :o:

gdare 18. November 2009, 21:33

They say every GPS has a slight error in positioning

Stomyr 18. November 2009, 22:01
