After several miserable days where a stomack bug has taken its toll on all of us, one after the other, we are all recovering.
We've had beautiful weather today, so I decided to take the kids outside to let them run around and shake of the last few bugs...
If you wonder how one of our dogs ended up like you see in the picture, click on the

Yesterday in the middle of lunch, both Markus and I suddenly got the sensation that the room was moving. The kitchen table felt like it was shaking and the hanging lamp above us was rocking back and forth.
I was too tired to comment on it and figured I just needed to take a nap, and Markus just figured it was the usual dizziness he's been having from his ear problems so it wasn't until a few minutes later that he commented how funny it was that he thought the table had been moving. Immediately I was like, "What? I felt it too!" and he was shocked to hear that it hadn't just been a dizzy spell.
We laughed pretty hard about it, and wondered if it could have been an earthquake. (I think that's a good indicator that we've never felt one before.) But then we dropped the subject and completely forgot about it.
Today he was up north in town and while in a store saw that the major headline on all the papers was that there was a 6.0 earthquake yesterday on the southern part of the island! The top story was about how President Arroyo was so calm and collected as she crawled underneath a table to avoid being hit by a chandelier. (Don't know if one fell, or if they were just worried it would fall...) So now we're quite proud to say we've felt an earthquake. (And I hope that's the closest we'll ever get to one, too.)

Today has just been one of those days that you hope don't come along too often. I left on a supply run this morning, the weather was pretty bad with rain and wind. Not very likely that the flight would go, but I decided to bring the cargo to the airport anyways. I had brought Levi with me, since it was only going to be a trip there and straight back.

For over a year now we've been praying for little Ellie, a beautiful 9-year old girl who has been battling cancer. Both sets of her grandparents work/worked for New Tribes Mission and I (Sarah) grew up with her father's family in Sanford at NTM's headquarters. (Ellie's maternal grandfather was one of 3 NTM missionaries who were kidnapped and later killed in South America years ago.) Ellie's mother has documented their journey on a blog, which we have followed since September of last year. She has a gift with writing, and her words have touched so many people.
Some of you already know about Ellie, but for those of you don't we want to ask you to begin praying for Ellie and her family. Please visit their blog ( www.ellieskees.blogspot.com ). It seems as if Ellie is losing her fight with the cancer and though our hearts break for her family, they continue choosing to trust in God's goodness in their and Ellie's lives. Although we continue to pray for a miracle, we also acknowlege that that may not be the Lord's plan for Ellie's life and ask Him to give strength and grace to Ellie and her family now.

Today was a big adventure.
With the middle of November just around the corner, I realized we needed to quickly get Christmas presents in the mail to our family in Florida and Norway if we want them to be there in time for Christmas. All along I'd been planning to do the shopping while we were in Manila this month, but with the change of plans and us staying up here, I didn't have much of an option but to find things here.

This has become an all too common scenario after we moved up to Northern Luzon. We have seen it happen so many times as I have taken people to the airport, or planned a supply flight to one of the tribes. Well, this time it was our turn.

Our little boy is growing up! Today he turns 3 years old and now he is just that - a little boy!
Cars and helicopters and trains are his favorite things, but he still loves to read and sing. Coloring takes too much effort and time, but drawing boats and airplanes is so much fun. Swinging and jumping on the trampoline are the funnest, but going swimming tops it all. And nothing is better than capturing bugs and lizards!!!
We love you Levi Matteus. Happy birthday to you!
