Unofficial automatic tab stacking
Wednesday, March 16, 2011 3:52:18 PM
Automatic tab stacking will not be in the 11.10 Beta but you can simulate the behaviour via making use of another small bug (at least until we fix that bug).
- Enable "Preferences > Tabs > Open new tab next to active"
- Make sure the working tab is already in a stack. If it is not, manually add "any" tab to your current working tab (it can even be opera:blank) because you need to start off with a stack already for this to work.
- Expand the stack and make sure the working tab is not the right most tab in the stack (if it is move at least one place to the left).
P.S. Shhh ... I didn't tell you this!

But I could understand if someone would see it differently.

Ok, so please dont fix this "bug" that allows this Tab Stacking trick until its back in final form again!
Cheers!

An example. My setting is when closing a tab "Activate the next tab"
Opened tabs: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
The active tab is the 3rd. I open 4 new tab from 3rd tab.
Which I do expect to happen:
1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 4, 5
With your suggestion this actually happens:
1, 2, 3, 9, 8, 7, 6, 4, 5
Another situation. I'm on the 3rd tab. I want to check something which not releated to content of 3rd tab. Which I do expect to happen:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, new_tab
With your suggestion this actually happens::
1, 2, 3, new_tab, 4, 5

I must resist the urge to tell you how. You will have to wait and see!

(though the date of the post is the same as your comment...)Look, if this is window panel what you meant, this isn't what people were looking for... They want an option to turn automatic tab-stacking back someway. Are you still planning to offer an option for automatic tab-stacking on the future? Perhaps developing it yet?
