Almanza Dragoons

Painting figures for Talavera continues apace. Over the summer I finished a unit of Spanish light cavalry, the Almaza Dragoons. In theory, dragoons occupied a middle ground between the heavier battle cavalry and the lighter Hussars and Chassuers who scouted ahead of the army.
Spanish cavalry was never very effective, but they are fun to paint. These yellow-on-yellow troopers, with their bicorne and red plume, make a fashion statement like few others. When I started I thought they'd look sort of silly in canary yellow, but somehow it works. The figures are 15mm, from Battle Honors. Take a look:

The Almanza regimental uniform included sky blue collars and cuffs, which you can see in the picture. Now I have to work on another Spanish regiment, this time of heavy cavalry.
