The capital of Catalonia is unequivocally a Mediterranean city, not only because of its geographic location but also and above all because of its history, tradition and cultural influences.

Curious contrasts make it so interesting: a modern and enterprising city with a historic Gothic center almost intact, the maze of narrow streets and the grid-like layout of the urban planning.

A few pictures from my road trip to Montenegro, a country is situated in the south of the Adriatic, just across the sea from Italy and borders Greece, Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Albania. A small country in size but abundant in natural wealth, beauty, mild beaches, clear lakes, fast rivers and gorgeous mountains.

A few pictures from my road trip to Albania - a stranger from another time. Albania's rulers implemented a strategy of "socialist construction based on the principle of self-reliance," that is, a policy of strict autarky. For 40 years, until 1991, Albania wa one of the most isolated and least accessable countries in the world. Today iti is unspoilt by mass tourism and a culture that is all its own.
You can find beautiful pristine beaches on parts of the Ionian Coast, fascinating classical sites like ancient Berat, dramatic mountain citadels, and the mad traffic of Tirana.

Krn lake is the largest highland lake in Slovenia (390 m long, 150 m wide and 17.5 m deep but depth of the lake varies for about 2 m depending on the season the year). This Karstic lake was made by a glacier.

Morocco is a country that is unique in the Muslim world, "like a tree whose roots lie in Africa but whose leaves breathe in European air".
These places immediately penetrate all of your senses with vibrant smells and sounds and colors. And tanneries in Fez are no exception.

This makes it one of the most interesting cities in the world.

Uzbekistan has well preserved relics from the time when Central Asia was a center of empire, education, and trade. Ancient cities of Uzbekistan including Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and Tashkent were located on the ancient Silk Road, the trading route between China and the West, and are truly amazing symbols of oriental beauty and mystery.

Autumn in Slovenija - Planinsko polje

Planinsko polje is a typical "polje" (karstic field) in central Slovenia. After heavy rain, the field is flooded and it turns intto a lake for some time.
Two rivers, Rak and Pivka, join together underground in the Postojna cave system and the water comes out on the southern part of the field (part of the Postojna cave system) as the Unica river in an 8 km long stream. Unica river disappears underground again on the NE part of the field.
