Opera on Mac, what's happened with him?

TMO (The Mac Observer)'s weekly article, titled as "Living Without Safari", although I don't have Mac and unfortunately not tried it yet, I was looking forward to reading Opera's turn.
Here we have that.
Living Without Safari Week 3: Opera
I was surprised to read the article, because some Mac users say like this article, others say "Opera is fast on Mac"-like.
This is ArsTechnica's poll, and you can read the results and comments, without posting any. Some Mac Opera users praise its speed and rendering, but just like TMO's article, others don't think so.
I can't comment any further, for no Mac here.

But I agree with article that OmniWeb is native Mac application (even more native than Safari) while Opera is not at all.
Also Opera generally lack polish...
If I were a new Mac user without past Opera experience I would certanly choose OmniWeb from the first sight at least...

But I have to agree with FataL. As I said in my own blog the other day: "...not sure if rendering speed, and JScript speed is all the speed a browser needs. Speed measured in productivity might as well be the speed a browser needs in the end."

I've been using OPera exclusively on the Mac (which I've only had for a about a month or so now)- I notice some strange quirks with Opera, and I do miss the MDI interface, but it's not THAT bad.. not like it was made out to be in that review.

I do like Mac-Opera developers to improve it, especially in UI side, if some comments in the original article are real, as FataL wrote as "Opera generally lack polish".
I've heard some saying it's difficult to find good help, good, I mean easy to use, and some want the intuitive interface, which I can't totally agree, even on Windows and Linux I use.
