At this time of the development stage, Opera released new skin. There are pros and cons, I know. How about looking for user based good looking skins?
I recommend the below ones, for example.
I personally still use Zeus 02 with a little customizations.

As for the new skin I really am angry I can't remove the new tab button... never use it, never have used it. Double clicking the tab bar or the workspace if there are no tabs showing... thats the ticket!

@alexremen: Yes, I have hidden the new tab button, too
