afghanistan: foreign forces / civilian deaths

AFP - 05/09/07

At least 20 civilians dead in Afghan air strike

Kandahar, Afghanistan - An air strike by foreign forces killed 20 to 30 villagers, including women and children, in southern Afghanistan overnight, a governor and a witness told AFP Wednesday.

The new claim of civilians dying in operations against Taliban fighters comes after nearly 60 people were said to have been killed in such incidents late last month, prompting angry demonstrations.

War planes bombed a village in the Sangin district of Helmand province late Tuesday, provincial governor Assadullah Wafa said.

"Twenty-one civilians including women and children were killed," he said.

A man from the bombed village of Sarwan Qala told AFP the toll was higher, at about 30 dead. It was not clear whose planes were involved.
The separate US-led coalition said it was involved in an "engagement" in the same area of Sangin but made no mention of air strikes.

A coalition soldier was killed in the incident, when an Afghan and coalition convoy was attacked by Taliban fighters, it said.

Villager Noorullah said the war planes started bombing not long before midnight:

"Around 30 people are dead," he said by telephone. "The number might rise because there are still people under the debris."

He said most of the dead and wounded were women and children:

"We took the wounded kids to the foreign forces base to show them who they have bombed."

Mounting civilian casualties are fuelling Afghan resentment about the presence of international
[ foreign ] forces and undermining the government.

President Hamid Karzai last week summoned the foreign commanders and top diplomats to tell them to take more care.

UN and Afghan investigations found about 50 civilians were killed in operations by the US-led coalition and US Special Forces in the western province of Herat on the weekend of April 27. The coalition initially denied civilian casualties, saying 136 Taliban fighters had been killed.

Separately, residents in the eastern province of Nangarhar accused the coalition in a series of demonstrations last week of killing six civilians in late April, including two women.

The incident was not far from an area where US Marines opened fire on civilians in March after a suicide bombing. A US commander said in Washington Tuesday that 19 people were killed and 50 injured in this incident.

What Are They Trying To Hide?

What is AIPAC trying to hide?

Sabbah's blog - April 10, 2007

Media seeks public access in upcoming AIPAC lobbyists’ trial:

News organizations filed documents in federal court Monday opposing a government request to close portions of an upcoming trial of two former pro-Israel lobbyists accused of violating the Espionage Act.

Media organizations, including The Associated Press, are concerned the government wants to keep large portions of evidence in the case out of public view when former American Israel Public Affairs Committee lobbyists Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman go to trial.

What they are trying to hide?

Aipac Prosecution - Limited Access Is Constitutional:

A government proposal to limit public access to evidence in the trial of two pro-Israel lobbyists is constitutional and represents a reasonable attempt to safeguard classified information, prosecutors argued in a brief filed last week in federal court in Virginia.

The prosecution rejected claims by attorneys for the two lobbyists, Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman, that giving jurors headphones to listen to recordings not played aloud in the courtroom would violate the Sixth Amendment guarantee to a public trial.

But still, what do they want to hide?

In case you missed it: Ex-AIPAC staffers say Condi Rice leaked them classified info:

Two former lobbyists for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) say Condoleezza Rice was their informant on sensitive national security matters.

Lawyer for Steve Rosen (AIPAC’s former foreign policy director) said Rice had not merely been Rosen’s interlocutor, but had leaked information identical to and at times more sensitive than examples cited in the indictment. In addition the lawyer said, the information Rice provided was more "volatile" than the information described in the indictment.

I’ll be surprised if the court charge Condi for anything, not because she has not done it, but because the court will soon find out (if not already) that the whole administration
is a puppet agent for AIPAC and they are just doing the job they were assigned to.

It is unfortunate that majority of Americans don’t know ( or don’t want to believe ) that their country is also _ occupied _ by _ the _ Zionists. :worried:

The Senator's Letter

Letter from James Abourezk, former US Senator from South Dakota to Jeff Blankfort on the Israel Lobby (12-0-06)

Dear Jeff:

I just finished reading your critique of Noam Chomsky's positions in an e mail sent to me by Tony Saidy.

I had never paid much attention to Chomsky's writings, as I had all along assumed that he was correct and proper in his position on the Arab-Israeli conflict.

But now, upon learning that his first assumption is that Israel is simply doing what the imperial leaders in the U.S. want them to do, I concur with you that this assumption is completely wrong.

I can tell you from personal experience that, at least in the Congress, the support Israel has in that body is based completely on political fear--fear of defeat by anyone who does not do what Israel wants done. I can also tell you that very few members of Congress--at least when I served there--have any affection for Israel or for its Lobby.

What they have is contempt, but it is silenced by fear of being found out exactly how they feel. I've heard too many cloakroom conversations in which members of the Senate will voice their bitter feelings about how they're pushed around by the Lobby to think otherwise. In private one hears the dislike of Israel and the tactics of the Lobby, but not one of them is willing to risk the Lobby's animosity by making their feelings public.

Thus, I see no desire on the part of Members of Congress to further any U.S. imperial dreams by using Israel as their pit bull. The only exceptions to that rule are the feelings of Jewish members, whom, I believe, are sincere in their efforts to keep U.S. money flowing to Israel. But that minority does not a U.S. imperial policy make.

Secondly, the Lobby is quite clear in its efforts to suppress any congressional dissent from the policy of complete support for Israel which might hurt annual appropriations. Even one voice is attacked, as I was, on grounds that if Congress is completely silent on the issue, the press will have no one to quote, which effectively silences the press as well. Any journalists or editors who step out of line are quickly brought under control by well organized economic pressure against the newspaper caught sinning.

I once made a trip through the Middle East, taking with me a reporter friend who wrote for Knight-Ridder newspapers. He was writing honestly about what he saw with respect to the Palestinians and other countries bordering on Israel. The St. Paul Pioneer press executives received threats from several of their large advertisers that their advertising would be terminated if they continued publishing the journalist's articles. It's a lesson quickly learned by those who controlled the paper.

Troops Can't Leave Iraq Without Zionists' Permission

"The creation of the State of Israel is one of the miracles of the twentieth century." -- Nancy Pelosi

Cleveland Jewish News
November 12, 2006

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who is close to national Jewish leaders, is set to become speaker of the US House of Representatives.

Democrats won the House in Tuesday’s midterm congressional elections, which would make House party leader Pelosi the first woman to assume the mantle of speaker, second in line to the presidency.

Pelosi has strong ties to a number of Jewish groups, including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee; she is a close friend of Amy Friedkin, a past AIPAC president.

Sacrificing More Soldiers: A U.S. President Run Amok

"Bush Cuts and Runs from Reason"
by Paul Craig Roberts - 01/03/07

On January 2 the BBC reported a leak from a "senior administration source" that President George W. Bush is going to give a speech, whose "central theme will be sacrifice," announcing an increase in US troops in Iraq for security purposes.

Speculation abounds whether the leak is designed to block Bush's insane policy with protests or to soften its controversial edge when announced. The BBC reports that "already one senior Republican senator has called it Alice in Wonderland."

Bush's proposal, if he makes it, is the work of retired army general Jack Keane and Frederic W. Kagan of the American Enterprise Institute. AEI is the second most important Israeli lobby in Washington after AIPAC.
Knowledgeable people regard the Keane/Kagan plan as a proposal designed to continue for a while longer the blood profits of the US military-industrial complex and to advance Israel's interests by spreading Sunni-Shi'ite conflict throughout the Middle East.

The neoconservatives' original plan was to give Israel hegemony in the Middle East by using the US military to overthrow Iraq, Iran, and Syria. The failure of US forces to subdue Iraq has led to a new neoconservative plan to give Israel supremacy by spreading sectarian conflict among Muslims throughout the region. No Arab state would be stable, and Israel could proceed with its seizure of Palestine.

If Bush adopts the Keane/Kagan "plan," he should be impeached for putting two special interests -- the military-industrial complex and Israeli Zionist settlers -- ahead of America's interests and the interests of peace in the Middle East.

The crimes of the Bush regime already stand at a horrendous level. There is no support for the Keane/Kagan "plan" in the American political establishment, among Middle East experts and the American public, or within the Bush administration itself.

The American electorate, or stolen elections, have put in the presidency an ignorant and moronic
[ and traitorous ] person who is guided not by sense and reason but by an enormous ego that can admit no mistake. In the name of a concocted "war on terror," the American public has permitted Bush an endless stream of mistakes.

These mistakes are destroying any prospect for peace in the Middle East, committing America to endless and pointless conflict, destroying America's soft power while demonstrating the limits of its military power, creating a domestic police state, and endangering the US dollar. There is no imaginable gain from the Middle Eastern conflict that Bush has initiated that could possibly offset these costs to Americans.

The US electorate attempted to rein in Bush in the November election by giving Democrats control of Congress. But Bush refuses to listen to the electorate as he prepares, instead, to mire America deeper in illegitimate conflict that does not serve America's interests.

President George W. Bush is destroying America. Will Congress stop him?

The Lavon Affair

How does America deal with a country that commits terrorism against us and then honors the terrorists? We give it billions of dollars every year as well as our most advanced military technology.

Israel honors Jewish terrorists who attacked America – Israeli President calls them “heroes”
by David Duke - 04/01/05

The Israeli President, Moshe Katzav, in recent formal ceremonies [March 2005] honored the Israeli agents who made terrorist attacks against American sites in Egypt hoping to provoke an American war with Egypt.

In ceremonies reported by the major Israeli daily newspaper, Haaretz, Israeli President Moshe Katsav stated the following at a ceremony honoring the Jewish terrorists who attacked American facilities:

“Although it is still a sensitive situation, we decided now to express our respect for these heroes,” President Moshe Katzav said after presenting the three surviving members of the bomber ring with certificates of appreciation at a Jerusalem ceremony.

In the Lavon Affair, named for the Israeli Defense Minister at the time, Pinhas Lavon, the Israeli government launched a false flag, terrorist operation against American sites in Egypt hoping to provoke American bombing, retaliation and war against that nation.

The Israeli terrorists targeted American sites such as American Cinemas and American libraries around Cairo. Only the premature detonation of one of the Jewish terrorist’s bombs led to the exposure and halt of the plot before the extensive loss of life and property.

If this terrorist operation would have been successful, not only would it have cost many American lives, it would have launched an American war against an innocent nation which in turn would have caused the death of many thousands of innocent American and Egyptian lives as well as untold billions of dollars.

Israel’s terrorist plot against the United States in the Lavon Affair was one of the greatest acts of treachery that any nation has ever committed against an ongoing ally. There have certainly been many times in history where a nation attacked a supposed ally, but I know of no cases where an “ally” attacked another and then the attacked nation remained an ally and continued to support the attacking nation financially and militarily!

For that to occur there has to be an incredible level of subversion in the attacked nation. And shockingly, this was only the first Israeli act of treachery against the nation that stood by Israel more than any other: America.

There have been repeated acts of Israeli terrorism and treachery against the United States.

In 1967, Israel attacked the USS Liberty with both fighter jets and torpedo boats in a surprise terrorist attack that killed 34 Americans and wounded 173. Both the U.S. Secretary of State at the time, Dean Rusk, and the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Thomas Moorer, both have stated that it was a pre-meditated attack against the United States.

In the Jonathan Pollard case, an Israeli spy devastated America’s Eastern European Intelligence Network, and Israel honors Pollard today as a hero and lobbies for his release from American prison.

And very recently, important figures in the Israeli lobby AIPAC, arguably the most powerful lobby in Washington, D.C., are under investigation [indictment] by the FBI for spying against the United States. The fact that the President of the United States and most of the members of Congress have close ties to this lobby for a foreign nation, a lobby which is now in the middle of spy scandal should obviously be a huge story in America’s press, but it is suppressed in the Jewish dominated American media.

Israel knew that the U.S. Government would certainly respond to terrorist attacks against it (supposedly by Egypt) — with bombing and war against that nation. Terrorist acts of war were committed against America and traditionally nations respond to such in kind.

But, once America discovered that it was Israel who committed such terrorist
acts of war, why was there no military retaliation against the offending nation?

In fact, American money and even military equipment continued to Israel unabated. Such shows the high level of Israeli subversion and dare I say it, treason, in the United States Government. It also clearly reveals the Jewish supremacy in the press that has whitewashed and kept this treachery from the knowledge of 99 percent of American people.

In fact, 99 percent of Americans will never hear of the Lavon Affair nor will they know anything about the recent Israeli government official ceremony that honored the Israelis who committed these terrorist acts against America.

For years Israel denied knowledge of the event, just as Israel denied the murderous attack on the USS Liberty, denied their involvement with the damaging spying of Jonathan Pollard, and denied the overwhelming evidence that indicates Israeli prior-knowledge of the 911 attack. The Israeli defense minister, Pinhas Lavon had to resign after the bungled terrorist attacks in Egypt, and the excuse was given that it was a “rogue operation.” Yet, obviously, launching terrorist attacks against United States installations in Egypt that included American cinemas and libraries, would have certainly had to have been approved by the Israeli Prime Minister at the time, Golda Meir.

But now, the Israel government is having formal, public ceremonies honoring the Jewish terrorists that attacked American facilities! Now that’s enormous Chutzpah when one considers Israel is receiving billions of American tax dollars every year, the lion’s share of America’s entire foreign aid budget, and the fact that America is the only major nation that defends Israeli crimes against the Palestinians in the U.N. Yet, it shows just how firmly Israel has the government and media of America in its grip that they can get away with honoring terrorists who have attacked America!

How can America still support a nation that formally honors those Jews who clearly committed terrorism against the United States?

Any President, Congressman or Senator that who supports sending Israel American tax dollars after the clear record of unrepentant Israeli terrorism and treachery against the United States, is equivalent to any American who sent money to Japan after the attack at Pearl Harbor!

It is important to note that no Arab or Muslim government, including that of Saddam Hussein, has ever launched a terrorist attack against America. No Arab or Muslim government has ever had even a single, highly placed spy do damage to the United States. No Arab or Muslim nation has corrupted our political process with massive bribery, threats and coercion of thousands of U.S. politicians.

In truth, the Iraq War is just another form of a false flag operation like the Lavon Affair.

It was spawned by Israeli loyalists in the United States, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle and coterie of Jewish supremacists (including the man in charge of the evidence of Iraqi misdeeds in the CIA , Stuart Cohen, who was behind much of the false intelligence) that led America into a war against Iraq, a nation that had never harmed and posed absolutely no threat at all to America.

This treasonous war was never a war for America, but only a war for Israel. It has so far led to the death of almost 1600 [2800] Americans, grievous injuries of up to 20,000 [48,000] of our men and women, expenditures of a national treasure of over 300 billion dollars, damage to American business around the world, trillions of dollars in higher costs for oil and gas, and has only increased hatred against America and increased support for Al Qaeda and other anti-American terrorists.

And again, for what is all this the blood and treasure lost?

For Israel, that’s what, a nation that honors terrorists who bombed American facilities!

My God in Heaven, when will real Americans wake up to this treachery and treason! :worried:

U.S. Congress Approves Funding for Zionist Terrorism

Zaman Daily Newspaper - 10/01/06

America Sends Additional Aid to Israel

Zionist Occupied Government Sends Additional Aid to Israel

The U.S. Congress has agreed to send an additional $500 million
in aid to Israel on top of its annual aid of $2.36 billion in order to contribute to common defense projects conducted with Israel.

The $463 billion defense budget proposal, which includes $500 million aid for Israel, was accepted by the U.S. Congress. The Bush administration had originally demanded to send an addition $268 million aid to Israel, but Congress decided to double this amount.

$20 million will be used to fund a defense project designed to intercept short-range missiles.

$35 million will be designated to develop advanced targeting technologies for the U.S. and Israeli Air Force.

Israel and the United States are also working on some projects to protect armored vehicles from missile attacks.

The United States froze the financial aid it was sending to Palestine after the Hamas government took power after the general elections. Palestinian civilians have been experiencing difficult days due to the suspension of international aid.

Zionist Occupied Government: United States

The United States government has rejected a United Nations resolution demanding Israel end its military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Aljazeera - 07/13/06

United States Vetoes Resolution On Gaza

Ten of the 15 Security Council nations backed the resolution.

The US was the only country to vote against the draft resolution put forward by Qatar on behalf of Arab nations. Ten of the 15 Security Council nations voted in favour and four, Britain, Denmark, Slovakia and Peru, abstained.

The draft resolution accused Israel of a "disproportionate use of force" that endangered Palestinian civilians, and demanded Israel withdraw its troops from Gaza.

The draft had been changed before the vote over concerns that it was too biased against Israel. Calls for the release of the Israeli soldier abducted by Palestinian militants and an end to rocket attacks on Israel were added.

The resolution called on Israel and the Palestinians to "take immediate steps to create the necessary condition for the resumption of negotiation and restarting
the peace process".

It urged all parties to help alleviate the "dire humanitarian situation" faced by Palestinians. The draft also demanded the release of Palestinian officials arrested by Israel since the offensive began.

The United States government had campaigned for other nations on the 15 member council to either vote against the resolution or abstain.

The last veto at the Security Council, in October 2004, was cast when the United States government blocked a resolution condemning another Israeli operation in Gaza.

Eight of the last nine vetoes have been cast by the United States government. Seven of
those were to do with the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
