Carleton University students have decided to pull out of a Canada-wide fundraiser that provides close to $1 million a year for cystic fibrosis research, given that the disease "has been recently revealed to only affect white people, and primarily men."
The Carleton University Students Association voted Monday night overwhelmingly in favour of choosing a new charity to support during its orientation week in September, in lieu of Shinerama, which raises money for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Funny, I know two little girls that have C.F. Not that it matters who gets it anyway, can you imagine drowning in your own lung secretions? Guess where my charity money is going this year.

That's ridiculous. In a way, I hope it comes back to bite them on the ass in the form of lower enrolments, or something, although (from the article) they do want to continue to help ... just in a more 'inclusive' way.
Hmm ... aging. Aging is something that affects everyone. They could collect for that. Or death. Death affects everyone. They could collect for that. Or the sun expanding beyond the inner planets in a few billion years ... they could collect for that. That would definitely affect everyone.
There's three things right off the top of my head that affect everyone right there.

Shinerama was so well known! Argh!
I know of a young lady who battles CF..
Also...my youngest daughter's name-sake (Jamie)--in his early 30's I believe, managed to get a double lung transplant (while I was preg with my daughter), and tragically died due to complications.
