I'm trying

...but where is this all leading?

When your day sucks

it's important to try to think of some good stuff that happened despite all the crap. Not always an easy thing to do. Anyhoo, five good things about today:

1. Had a great chat with Spooksis. She's not happy that "Dancing with the Stars" is over either. :frown:

2. One of my colleagues said the nicest thing. "I really admire how you just totally gave your whole attention to that student despite how you are feeling".

3. I got some great messages from some great blog friends.

4. My cat is the best, she always finds some silly way to make me smile. She licked my nose this morning and then bit my hair, tugging at it. :cat:

5. I'm having a hard time thinking of five things. Hmmm. It's rainy and dreary. Oh, I swam really well this morning. Feeling quite fit despite the usual aches and pains. :knight:

Wonderful advice San, and perfectly timed for me! I am finding it difficult to be here to put chickens away at night, there always seems to be someone who needs something at that time of night, so I've decided to give them away. If I can't be here, something will likely come and eat them, so I can't leave them in that kind of danger. It was so sad to see the first bunch leave last night, the rest will go at the end of the week.
So, here's my 5
1. I will keep 3 chickens, one baby, a crippled chicken and one silkie that is healing from a hawk attack. I will tell them every day how wonderful they are.
2. My cats are great too! Queenie sits on my desk almost all the time, huffing an puffing with asthma, every so often comes over and insists I pet her.
3. I finally made the commitment to lose weight. Diet started this morning and I'm going to do SOME kind of exercise this afternoon.
4. My mother and father still love me. No one else right at the moment, but that's two anyway!
5. OK, I'm stuck on #5 also. It rained here all night too, but today is bright and cool.

That's a good attitude Sandy!

Wow Lois..sorry you have to give away some chickens. I found I had to do the same thing too to lessen the workload here in the winter.
 to your determination to diet..positive attitude goes a long way there too. No beating yourself up allowed! :D

Make one change at a time...then it doesn't seem like a diet. For example...I know someone who started eating a better breakfast (and this person wasn't overweight at all), and lost 5 pounds in a couple of weeks.
