My god is the walking god...

Woke up at 4. Did stuff until 7, then started crashing. Managed to stay awake until 11 but felt like a zombie. Had to give in to the sleep gods and have a nap. I always have a difficult time with jet lag. It will take a couple of weeks before I've recovered.

Walked up the mountain with the dogs today. It's so lovely to be alone in the woods and have no one chattering and arguing which path to take. Geez. I'm reading a book called "The Spirited Child". My grand-nephew is "spirited" and this book has really helped my niece deal with his behaviour. What I found really interesting is that a spirited child is not necessarily extroverted. The author also talks about the differences between introverts and extroverts. While introverts really need a lot of alone quiet time to center themselves ( that's me ), extroverts need to be around people and talking all the time to debrief and make sense of the world. That was my ex. No wonder we clashed so much.

Anyway, good walk today. It's great taking the dogs, makes me feel a bit safer. There are definitely wild animals up there, though all I see are lots of tracks and scat. Being a cat person I don't quite "get" dogs. But it always amazes me how excited they are to be outdoors, all the different smells, it really is a secret world they live in.

So, some pictures. It's a pine forest, heavily infested by the Mountain Pine Beetle, which is an epidemic in this province. In this area the forestry has cut down half the trees to try to control the beetles. They have also burned the ground to rid it of fuel for forest fires, and probably to kill off the pests as well. Bugs bugs bugs.

My God is the God of Walkers. If you walk hard enough, you probably don't need any other god. ~Bruce Chatwin, In Patagonia, 1977

glad to see you're up and walking around in the sun - it's one of the best things for resetting your body clock. You live in a beautiful part of the province!
Very Nice!!
take care

I used to belong to the church of the walker's god but seemed to have lapsed. Time to get myself back to the fold.

With a venue like that, walking should be a crazed passion; sure beats walking in a shopping mall.
It is amazing when stepping outside of the artifical man-made world of concrete and steel how theraputhic it is too our soul and pysche to be reunited with nature.
How much you charge for bed and breakfast Sandy? I need my batteries recharged, toxicity from my body and mind removed, and my creativity invigorated.
Warmest,
Dennis

@ Dennis, I could never have a bed and breakfast, hate making beds. But yes, it is the perfect place for all those things. Sure beats walking in China, you are never alone there.
