Oaxaca, Mexico, Ancient cave paintings

Well, this is my first post and I wanted to talk about ancient cave paintings and what they represent to us. First of all, while I visited my family in Oaxaca, Mexico I had a chance to visit a remote area close to the town I was staying in for it had ancient cave paintings. This site is rarely visited due to its location and you have to go through a dense forest to get there. Next, as we explored this area, I realized this site had been a ceremonial site for the ancient Mixtec people. I have included a few images so you can get a glimpse of what I saw. Note that the images have been enhanced to show the ancient paintings more clearly. The image of the Bighorn Sheep is interesting because I've read that these animals were only found from Canada to Northern Mexico or Baja California. Now, this area is situated in Southern Mexico so this is evidence that Bighorn Sheep had been further south. Next, the hands represent territorial marks and there are red and black painted hands. I believe these were two different groups. I have posted these images and will post several more because I want help from those of you who have studied anthropology or related fields. In Mexico, we have a rich history and I want to uncover and record this history so I'll would appreciate your help.
