Wake Up And Smell The Cooum

A big dose of "Eh?"

Oh Joy!!!

, ,

Finally!!!! The new football season is upon us.....YAHOOOOO!!! Two months without any football is a bit much to bear. At this point I'm so desperate that even watching Wigan play Derby will qualify as an orgiastic experience.

As always I shall be supporting Arsenal F.C. A pre-season filled with player transfers and major upheavals has left all the pundits writing off the team's chances but I am optimistic.

This has also left me susceptible to the taunts of my Manchester United and Chelsea supporting flatmates. Disgusting fellows (Man Utd and Chelsea, not my flatmates).

In the spirit of times to come I have been practising my remote handling skills and beer drinking. This weekend is going to be spent very productively.

Brilliant!!!

It's over.....

, ,

So after an 8 year love affair it's finally over. Or so it seems. Official confirmation is yet to come in from Arsenal FC but it seems as if Theirry Henry is off to FC Barcelona.

Au Revoir Titi. Thanks for the memories.

P.S : Of course if all this turns out to be baseless rumour then I'll be back on Monday gloating about how FC Barcelona can kiss my backside. They still can....

Dumped

, ,

An already glum week has drawn to a disappointing conclusion. Arsenal were dumped out of the Champions League last night and with that loss any chance of the club winning silverware has gone out the window.

Pisses me off. They play probably the most attractive attacking brand football you'll see but always fall to teams with less talent who sit back and defend for the entire match. The Beauty doesn't always get the better of the Beast.

Not all is doom and gloom though and the team should do better come next season what with all the newer players having settled in by then.

What I won't be able to live with though are my two friends, one a Manchester United supporter and the other a Chelsea supporter, crowing about how well their teams are doing.

As is obvious by now the weekends spent at my flat are passed played with the three of us playing the "my team is better than your team" game.

And now Arsenal get dumped out of the biggest football tournament in Europe rather unceremoniously.

May the good Lord give me strength.

I see light at the end of the tunnel in the form of Liverpool FC. Come on, you Scousers!!!

It has begun....

Finally!!! My rather impatient wait is over. No more hair pulling or crotch scratching. While I wish I could say with some confidence that Arsenal will win the EPL this year I won't because I want them to win the Champion's League.

As for Liverpool what can I say? With their newly assembled squad times are guaranteed to be exciting. Maybe the title chase will be closer this time.

Wish list :

1. Arsenal to win the League (Champion's League that is!!!)

2. Three way race for Golden Boot between Berbatov, Sheva and Henry

3. Liverpool for EPL champs

4. Mourinho to finally admit that he isn't "The Special One" and cede the title to someone else.

5. Benitez to release a book containing all the notes he takes during a match. Doodles anyone?

6. Me not having to work on the wekends so that I can watch all the matches. If pigs could fly.....

Crossover

I just love it when people who are heavily involved with one sport take time to acknowledge the goings-on of other sporting disciplines.

This article written by a cricket reporter covering the ongoing India - West Indies One Day series about fans watching the Champion's League final that I took off of Cricinfo had me in splits and lifted the cloud of doom and gloom that has been hovering over my head since the day Arsenal lost the final. :D  Demonic laughs have followed. Unadultered glee!!!! Its fun to be happy once again!!!

Heartbreak

, , ,

After a full year the club football season is now over. Took a day off from work to be able to watch the Champion's League final because I was expecting a great match and also because I hoped that Arsenal would win it. Needless to say things turned out very different. It was a tense match and Lehman's sending off definitely swung the balance Barca's way. That said the fact that they weren't able to breach the Arsenal defence for almost 80 minutes says a lot. I seriously believed that the Arse might be able to hold out for the title. What was the most upsetting was that the referee was piss poor. Too many dodgy decisions (not including Lehman's sending off) for a big occasion like this. I'm not upset by the fact that Barca won. They are undoubtedly the best team in Europe right now, I'm just upset by the way things transpired. I think Henry should stay on because I have good vibes about the coming years.

P.S : Larsson is a class act.

It sucks when something you invest a lot of emotion in doesn't work out the way you want it to.....
