My Quest to Become a Web Developer and Designer

,

Well I've vanished from my blog account for quite some time now, but here's the reason why. I've been studying on now to become a web developer and designer.

For a long time now, I've been trying to find something I could do that I had interest in and had fun doing, something that I could perhaps do to make money from. When I created a few MyOpera groups, I liked the way how I could customize my website, and I wondered if there was a place where I could futher develop my very own website(s) for free. Well, after aimlessly browsing the web, I stumbled upon a few websites that allows me to create my own websites for free. What they do is they give you some free space on their servers. The website domain is theirs, so the web address would look something like "yourname.theirname.com/", or "theirname.com/yourname/". Most of these services offer upgrades where you can buy your own domain name and get more space for a monthly or yearly fee.

Once I found these websites, I was hooked. I liked the way you can customize your website without learning how to use HTML or CSS (though you can still use those if you want to). I've been using these free website creation tools for a litle while now, but before a go and really develop a good looking website, I first want to learn how to use HTML and CSS. These can be used to further customize a website to your liking. Right now I've managed to create one website so far using the site builder tools, but again, I going to start using HTML and other types of scripts soon.

So now my quest begins to become a web developer, where I can create my own websites, and a web designer, where I can create my own images and templates for my websites. Please wish me good luck!

Myspace Vs Facebook Vs Twitter

I've been hearing a lot about these three social-networks. I personally am not with any of these sites, but I am curious, which is better?

According to a recent social-network poll, Facebook is the world's largest social-network, followed by Myspace. Twitter is the 3rd largest social community. To see the list of all major social-networks, go here. Myspace seems to attract teenagers, while Facebook and Twitter seems to attract all ages. Here's my own little review on these three communities:

Facebook:
After checking it out for a little bit, Facebook seems like a good place. From what I've seen, it looks pretty "laid back" and with a nice and interesting community of people in it. It also looks like one of those sites where you can customize anything and everything. It looks like a place to live a "virtual life". I heard however that Facebook doesn't work well with the Nintendo Wii console's web-browser, which is what I use, but with about 175,000,000 members, it has to be good for something right? I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

Myspace:
When I first heard about Myspace, I was curious to see what it was about. when I got there, it was nothing what I was expecting. and I don't mean that in a good way. The sections and profiles that I looked through was filled with profanity and inappropriate content. There wasn't a forum I looked through that didn't contain the "F" word inside of them. I'm sure Myspace is not about profanity and stuff like that, but that's just what I saw. I also heard that Myspace had problems with the Wii's web-browser too. So for my review of this site, I'd give it a 2 out of 5. I'm sorry for the low rating, but if anyone can comment on what's the point of Myspace, please do so and I'll probably change the rating.

Twitter:
The concept of this site is odd. You're suppoed to create these short messages about what you're doing at that very given moment. When people look at your messages and continue to watch them, they are called your "followers". I've heard that this community is very addictive to people. However, I have heard that although the concept of the site sounds silly, once you get started, it actually becomes very fun (providing you don't get addicted to it). So my rating for this site is 3 out of 5. It's a good community.

So there you have it. I'll be editing this post later on along with my ratings, but in the meantime, I'm interested in hearing your comments about these social-networks.

Ghosts: Real or Fake?

,

I'm sure everyone has wondered this at some point, is there such a thing as souls from the afterlife that travel to the real world to haunt the living, better known as ghosts?

I was reading online today about real life hauntings from around the world, and it got me curious, are ghosts just a theory that people made up? It's very possible. Look at the movies and their special effects, it's very easy to create alleged footage of a ghost walking across a hall for an example, you see these "ghosts" in horror movies all the time, so it's really possible that there're just a silly rumor that movie makers and "ghost hunters" are cashing in on.

But on the flip side, ghost could be very real. Here's a true story my Aunt told me that happened a few years ago:

It was about 3:00am Central Time, and she was sitting at the dining room table on her computer. Suddenly, she heard a strange sound come from the bathroom, and no one was in there at the time. When she went to check it out, she noticed the shower came on all by it's self.
Again, I don't know if this is true or not, since I wasn't there to see it, but later that day I did notice some fresh water sitting in the shower...

I personally have never seen a ghost before, I've seen photos, videos, heard audio recordings, but still I never saw a real ghost in person before, but if I did, I would ask it "how's it like in the afterlife?" Lol...

So my question is, do you think ghosts are real or fake? I'm curious to hear your opinion.

How Many is Too Many?

, ,

Friends, almost everyone has some in their My Opera friends list. Don't get me wrong, friends are great, but how many is too many friends?

When I look through other people's friends lists, some of them have just a few friends, like between 1-5, but then there are others that have over 30+ friends! Is that too many? I remember looking at someone else's blog that mentioned this. Are people adding friends to their friends list just so they can look like they have a lot of friends but really dont? I know both users have to agree to become friends first, but after that, is the "friendship" still there? Are people adding friends to their friends list and then be never heard from again?

I had a similar case not too long ago. I added someone as a friend, and they added me as a friend. When I tried to contact this person again, they never responded. If I'm going to have friends, then I would like to keep in touch with them occasionally. Wouldn't you? One common thing I notice is with new users is that they go around looking for a bunch of people and asking everyone to be their friend, but once they're not so new anymore, then they're almost never heard from again. As I said before, don't get wrong, friends are cool, I just think that they should keep in touch with you unless they have a reason not to, that's all. ^_^

So what do you think? Is there such a thing of having too many "friends" in the friends list?
