A Long Time Ago, In An Exhibition Far, Far Away...

Well, not that long ago, but this weekend I took a trip up to London to see the Star Wars Exhibition in County Hall.

It is an excellent exhibition, and I recommend all Star Wars geeks (like me) going along. Even my wife liked it, and she's not an obsessive like me. I've uploaded an few (read "a lot") of photos into an album, and if you want to hear a bit more about the exhibition, read on...

As soon as you walk into the exhibition, they have the opening theme playing on the loop. It still makes my hair stand on end. From that point on, it's a Star Wars fan's heaven. They have about 12 rooms of exhibits, each roughly based on a particular planet from the Star Wars universe.

From Naboo

To Hoth

And Endor

The atmosphere is perfect, with dark, moody lighting, and flat screen TVs playing clips from the appropriate planet in each room. The sound is cranked up on these things, so you feel right in the action. Having the Podrace playing in the background, whilst examining Anakin's podracer is pretty cool.

The exhibits consist of costumes

Full scale vehicles

and Starfighters

and models

and all your favourite characters

They also have people walking around in full Star Wars regalia (both official and non official  )

And put shows on throughout the day (a bit like a Star Wars pantomime)

There is even a room where you can get yourself shot against Green Screen so you can have a Lightsaber battle against the backdrop of some Starwars footage. The advantage of bringing along your 6-year-old brother is that he gets to make a fool of himself, and you don't look like too much of a geek accompanying him.

I really had a good day, and there is so much to see. I managed to take nearly 90 photos, but I could have easily doubled that. The thing that impressed me most was the attention to detail on everything in the exhibition. It truly is remarkable. My only grumble? The shop was pathetic! How can I spend my money on pointless merchandise, if there is not a lot there

Hi! I was in London last week and weekend. Didn't visit the exhibition though, but on the way to the London Eye we went passed the entrance to the exhibition and got to meet some Star Wars-dude (not a huge Star Wars-fan, know who he is, but not his name:)). Anyways, here he is!

hahah nice! There were a few walking around. It's in a great location - I really like the Southbank, and the London Eye is so impressive.

Yeah I know. London is a great city, already miss it... At first I wasn't aware of him, but then when we got closer, he caught our attention. A friend of mine is a Star Wars fan, and he was quite shocked:D!

It is a Stormtrooper. Lucas got the name of them and shape of their helmets from Nazi Stormtroopers.
