mobile, my opera, pleasures, life's little
Last night I blogged about trutap, which I discovered on my mobile. When I saw that it was compatible with MyOpera, a smiled a little. It's not often that you see MyOpera listed with the big guns of the blogging world, which is a shame as it's by far the best blogging platform that I've come accross.
When I checked trutap's features page and saw the little MyOpera logo among the "top blogs" list (and highlighted in the screenshot no less), I couldn't help but feeel proud. I like to think that it shows how far MyOpera has come in the last few years.

my opera, profile, N+, pokemon
...
Woah - third post on my blog in a day!
I thought it was time I changed my profile pic and avatar for My Opera. I have a serious lack of photos of myself, so I thought I'd opt for something else. The pic to the left was drawn by Khadgar, who is without doubt a true master of art.
It was drawn as part of an N+ pokeyman competition that never materialised. The idea behind it was that each of the N+ mods would take on the members as part of the "N+ Elite". Each mod was given their own persona, and mine was a James Bond-esque secret agent, complete with a license to Beedrill. I really love this drawing, and thought it was too good to go to waste, so I'm using it now.
Maybe because it's because I wish I was 007, or because it has me wearing my awesome Green Flash trainers. Either way it's now proudly displayed on my profile.

At the end of June I won the My Opera Smiley Contest. \o/
Today the prize arrived, in the form of this most excellent T-shirt.

Thanks, Espen, and everyone at My Opera! I shall where it with pride!

my opera, website, work
Every cloud has a silver lining, and someone's misfortune is another's joy. That's two ways of looking at the fact that My Opera has now been blocked by my work. For me this is not a good thing. I love being able to check my blog at work, and (more importantly) being able to update and monitor N+. Although pretty much all gaming sites are also blocked, it was nice to know that if a decent piece of news occurred whilst I was at work, I could write about it at lunch, or sneak it in during the quieter moments of the day.
I'm an optimist. There is usually a bright side, in my opinion. My Opera was blocked because it is classed as a "Social Networking and Personal Site". As I mentioned above, it was not previously blocked, but other similar sites such as MySpace and Facebook were. I like to think, therefore, that as the community reaches 1 million members, it's getting more awareness, and becoming a greater force in the social networking world. Although I don't really compare My Opera to these sites (it offers so much more), it can (and quite blatantly is) being seen this way by my work. There is probably a more technical and realistic reason why it has eventually been blocked (I've been expecting it for a while), but for now I like to think my loss is Opera's gain.
I'm probably more disappointed that N+ is blocked for the same reason, and not because it's a "gaming" site. If that were the case I'd be dead chuffed that it's become such an authority in the gaming world
