To compare with the middle school, university life is quite different. So is university teacher. Generally speaking, university teacher have less contact with their students, but they are more professional.
Before I came to the university, many people told me that students were totally free in the university, teachers would not force them to do anything. At that time, I did not believe it because I thought that was impossible. And now I am personally in the situation, I realize what it really means. Yes, as a university student, we are more free now. That is because we have grown up, we have independent thinking and the ability of making a clear distinction between right and wrong. Our teachers trust on us, so they do not need to supervise us every moment.
University teachers, are not just our teachers, most of the time they are our friends in some ways. The chances of having generation gap between universiy teachers and students are slim. When we want to share our happiness, we can parttake with our teachers. When something sorrowful or miserable happen, we can turm to our teachers for help. They have lots of experience, and will comfort us by some doable advices. Even when we do not agree with some views of our teachers, we can debate with them. The purpose of the argumentation is not to choose the winner and the loser, but to quest for better solution. I think this kind of communication can promote the realationship between university teachers and students, which makes them look like friends.
What university teachers teach is not just the knowledge in the textbook. Usually they focus more on how to be a good man and the truth in life. People always say that: The university is an ivoty tower and a part of the society. Students should learn everything that is useful for their future. One of the most effective way is to be told by teachers.
Therefore, the function of university teachers is to assist students to discover their potential. A good teacher does not need to tell the students the correct answer, but he should lead them to think. Results are not so important as the process.
Well, there is also something bad about university teachers. Some teachers do not know any names of his students even when the term comes to the end. Or maybe just few of them. I suppose these teachers should try hard.
Being a university teacher is not a facile thing, it calls for profound knowledge, patience and good ways of expressing. So I wish them happy and luck.

There is a famous old saying: while in Rome, do as Rome does. While people are talking about custom, the first thing appears in their mind is this sentence. Whereas some people hold the opposite opinion. They think they love their culture very much and faithful to their religion, so they should preserve the custom wherever they are. However, things are not so simple as people image, especially when it comes to the religion part. If people's action is against the law while he is in a foreign country, what behaviors do they have is correct? Should they still free to maintain their cultural and religious practices? My answer is: No. This depends on two kinds of different situations.
First, if there is no conflict between these two kinds of customs, or the behaviors do not disturb others, immigrants should be free to maintain their cultural and religious practices. Different customs can coexist in the same place and in a harmonious way, why not just let it go? The diversity of culture is a trend of history. The obligation of human being is to promote its co-prosperity.
Second, if there actually exsists conflict, or the action have impacted people around you, immigrants have better follow the local custom. People who have made a decision to move to a foreign country would have full preparation for all kinds of hardship. Before you go there, you must absorb all-sided information about that country. If you can not accept concepts of that place, why you move there?
Take the Turban for example. In the Islam world, women wear headscarf to protect themselves or just follow as the religion doctrine says. But in other countries, especially in western countries, people regards it as a block, because people can not communicate well under the headscarf. When in calsses or taking an identification card, for the sake of better being understood, we tend to suppose they take off the scarf. But police always fail to do this. I do not how other people think. Personally speaking, I could not accept that the driver is wearing headscarf while I am taking a taxi. I would doubt about whether she could see the guidepost or road surface clearly or not. It is dangerous for passengers.
People have the right to choose his religion or maintain their culture. But it is better to do as Rome does when you come to another strange country. If you can not accept their cultural and religious practices or the laws they made, just stay the palce where you are.

The Internet Society of China(ISC) is reportedly weighing regulations that would require users to submit their real names and identification card numbers to web operators when opening a blog or posting comments on bulletin boards. Users, however, would be allowed to post under pseudonym.
——China Daily <Oversight vs privacy>
Whether the proposed real-name system should be adopted or not is controversial problem. Some people think that the internet should protect the privacy of netizens, because everyone has some personal things or views that do not want to tell others. Their purpose of writing a blog maybe just want to release themselves.
However, some consider this proposal is really quite advisable. They believe real-name system can help to reduce harmful slander. For my part, I quite support the real-name policy.
Along with the rapid development of Internet, people can get more information easily. But at the same time, the internet often provides a forum for information and activities that go against the law. This trend is getting more and more furious. While surfing on the website of Sina, you will find lots of blogs are describing others' private life, such as titbits of stars. People praise things they love and criticize those ones they don not like in acrimonious tones. And these blogs are always the more popular ones.
Is this called freedom? Does everyone have the freedom to defame others? I must say, there is no freedom without limit. Absolute freedom can not be gained in the real society, neither on line. To vituperate others arbitrary must be punished by law. Netizens should know that internet is a public platform beforehand. What they post will be read by public readers. So they should be considerate and accept full responsibility for their writing.
To provide a clean and safe online environment, both netizens and the government have obligations. There must be clear definition of real-name system and applicable laws.

travel, homework
To travel all over the world is one of my dreams. I always dream that I am travelling in Tibet, in Athens or in Maldives. These three places are the spots I wish to travel mostly in the future.
Tibet, goes by the name of "the root of world", is famous for the culture of Buddhism and the symbolistic building—Potala Palace. I am very interesing in the custom of the minority. But before I have a chance to go to Tibet, I think I have to do lots of exerises to keep fit. Because it is hard to get over altitude sickness.
Athens is the capital of Greece. The reason that why I love Greece is the same as why I love Tibet. This country is well-known as one of the most important centers of early civilization. The myth created by Greek is so amazing that everybody love to read it. Another place in Greece that is worth of having a travel in my whole life is aegean sea. It reminds me of the sad love story. Normally, people believe that the sea was created by Women's tears. "Salty, soft, sad and touchable".
In my opinion, Maldives is the preferred place of interest when you want to take a holiday or spend the honeymoon. It is a paradise. All the islands in this country are low-lying, none rising more than 6 ft (1.8 m) above sea level. According to this, maybe it will disappear in the near future!
For me, travel is not only means travel. In the course of travelling, we can not only enjoy the wonderful artical excelling nature of nature, but also can find and learn something that do with our unconscious. First of all, travel can broad our eyereach. Second, we should relax our body and mind while travelling. Just forget the vexation and enjoy your life. Travel is best way to release the stress. Third, there is an old Chinese saying :" It's better to travel 1000 miles than to read 10000 books." That is to say, the experience of travel is precious. Maybe you can makes some new friends, maybe you will meet your sweetheart, or find the truth of bearing youself.
Then, I would like to share my first and unforgettable travel with you. It happened in November 2004, the time when I was a freshman. The spot is Beihai.
It took us about 3hours to Beihai from Zhanjiang. The city is a littoral city, so the most exciting thing for me was that I could see the sea. I had never been to a sea. To have a look at the view of seashore and stroll on the sand beach was my dream at that time. So when I reached the "Silver Beach", I was so exciting that could not help screaming. We ever played in the seawater, as if we were having the Water-Splashing Day. The most memorable that Beihai impressed me was a library. Its appearence is made of two hemispheroids. When I saw it for the first time, I thought it would be a building that was broken in a earthquake. After my friend told me that it was a library, I exclaim over its special design.
If I have one more chance to travel in Beihai, I will take more photos. It is really a good palce that worth travelling.

The theme
The 15th Asian Games was opened in Doha, Qatar on Dec.1st, 2006. It was designed to reflect the host city: modern and progressive but based firmly on cultural traditions and beliefs. The theme 'Old and New' reflects Qatar's unique dichotomy - a balance of the natural environment, heritage, culture, traditions, modern lifestyle and architecture, and the distinctive patterns and textures this creates across the land.Old draws from the desert and tribal lifestyle, and the sea where pearling, diving and fishing thrived. New takes in the vibrant and rapid growth of modern Qatar.
The 90-minute performance
The performance could be described by the word "miracle". Performers then played out a story which reflects the growth of Asia told by a Qatari, the Seeker, who navigates his way through the world with the help of a mystical astrolabe. The story contained four parts: the sea of life, signs and wonders of Asian, come back home and the city of future.
The highlight
The Flame Cauldron was lit by Sheikh Mohammad Al-Thani, Captain of the Qatar Equestrian Team, in a breathtaking ride on horse back on steep climb which was the highlight of the opening ceremony. Nobody would conceive this way of igniting the flame cauldron before the opening ceremony, to make a modern performance by the most ancient mothod. It was amazing.
David Atkins——director of the opening ceremony
David Atkins, the creative force behind the 2000 Sydney Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies, had promised an Olympic-class opening for Doha - and he delivered. "This ceremony is far more ambitious and greater in scale and scope than the Sydney ceremony," he said. "This is the most multi-cultural team I have ever assembled. There are performers from more countries than are in the games."
Four Great Stars
a:Jackie Cheung, from Hongkong, is a Chinese influencial entertainer. In 1995 Jacky Cheung received the "Chinese Artist of The World" in Monte Carlo at the World Music Awards. Some people think that he is not specialize in certain music style, however, he almost can perform all kinds of music. In the opening ceremony, he sang the song ‘Together Now’, accompanied by hundreds of drummers as the Games' flag bearers entered the arena.b:Sunidhi Chauhan, Indian starlet, sang the song ‘Reach out’ as hundreds of children ran into the arena holding white doves, once again symbolising the peaceful nature of the Games. Although she is only 19 years old, she has a performing experience of 15 years.
c:José Carreras, one of the most famous tenorists in the world, gave a concert with Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti at the opening of the World Cup in Rome in 1990. It was originally conceived to raise money for Carreras' foundation. And it was the first time for him to cooperate with Magida El Roumi in the opening ceremony. Magida El Roumi, come from Lebanon, is the artist delegate of Middle East. She is the daughter of the Lebanese musician Halim El Roumi and started her music career in the early 70's when she participated to a TV show Studio al fan and won the gold medal award. My viewThroughout the whole ceremony, we can feel the generous and open heart of the Qatari. Among the 3,465 organizing staff, about 85 percent came from outside the country. Though the country lacked some professionals who had rich experience of making a large-scale sport ceremony, it was unstinted to retain other countries' famous professionals. The organizers have spent 2.8 billion U.S. dollars on the largest ever Asian Games, which drew more than 10,000 athletes and officials from 45 countries and regions.
The opening ceremony had a vivid theme——peace. It did not told the history of Qatar isolated , but combined firmly with the idea of cultural fusion and peaceful development with other Arab and Asian countries.
The great success of Doha Asian Games opening ceremony implies a great challenge to Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and Guangzhou Asian Games in 2010. A successful ceremony is not only a ceremony, but also gives many information about the country and the world to attract people. There is something we can learn from this opening ceremony is the perfect use of high-tech. Maybe the Organizing Committee of Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 should takes more efforts in this part. And we every Chinese must shoulder this responsibility and offer some suggestion. Let's look forward to Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 together.
