Selurus.com Update

As you probably know I had started a self-hosted blog at selurus.com. And that blog was doing fine till recently as I haven't been adding new posts on that blog. Why? I really don't know. I seem to have lost interest in the project. I originally intended that blog to be a place to share my knowledge and any new discoveries but I haven't had anything to share for some time. So the space has been idling away.

Now that is a self hosted blog and I have a website hosting account from BlueHost where the blog is currently being hosted. My subscription runs till the end of the year. So unless I change my mind the future of the blog doesn't look too bright.

Actually I quite liked having my own domain but with so little activity I probably have to find an alternative hosting that's either free or very cheap but reliable at the same time. I was recommended a free host, I'll probably give it a shot. But this blog here will continue to be the base even then. I can't imagine leaving My Opera Community, its my online home.

Blog Upgrade

As you probably already know besides here on My Opera I've also got a blog on my domain at selurus.com. At present I'm hosting the blog on a shared hosting plan with bluehost, but I was just wondering when does one upgrade to dedicated server hosting.

Well I guess its probably too early but recently I've noticed that my visitors from search engines have increased so I wouldn't want to be caught off guard and find my blog blocked because of too much traffic or bandwidth restrictions. I'm on an unlimited plan, not really sure of what the fair use policy is though. So I'm just starting to look around for managed hosting solutions so when the time is right I'm able to make the switch and don't have to waste time.

Another option would be to hire colocation services but I don't think that is a realistic possibility atleast for now. I guess that would be suitable if I get into some kind of e-commerce business and absolutely need my website to be available to every visitor.

But for now I'm just a blogger, sharing my thoughts and experiences with people all over the world over the world wide web.

Just an update

Its been a while I've posted here. Well my other blog has been keeping me busy lately and so this blog has been rather dormant. I want to keep this blog active and not simply collect cobwebs.

I've just read a post by Gary Denness, who has more than a couple of blogs. He's decided to post a brief part of the post here on his my Opera blog with a link to his original blog post.

Now that sounds like a nice

. But I wouldn't do the same. But I will try to keep this blog active nonetheless and try to post here more often than what I have over the last couple of months.

Also another quick update:

my opera, internet, blog, friends

I've been blogging on My Opera for just a little over 2 years and its been a wonderful experience. I especially love this community because of the forums. Its so much fun to hang out in the forums, helping out newbies, finding solutions for problems, etc. It really makes of proud to have a blog on My Opera.
I have recently also set up a wordpress blog on my domain at selurus.com . I've been thinking about this for some time now and have finally decided that getting my own domain was what I really want. Its not very easy to find reliable and safe webhosting, so with suggestion from a fellow wordpress blogger Sire and after checking out several user reviews I've signed up with BlueHost. They're not the cheapest web host but their reviews have been fairly good. I've managed to install wordpress with much effort on my blog. All I can say is that it was a learning experience.
So far its been pretty good. Its really cool to have complete control over your blog. I still love the simplicity and easy set up that My Opera offers and not to forget the lovely people that I can call friends. You're probably thinking I'm leaving. But

I'm not leaving this blog. Well this is actually an invitation for you guys to drop by on my new blog and provide any feedback. Thanks for all your support.

If you've got some expertise that you'd like to share with the world what do you do. Blog about it!

But with most blogs the audience you can reach out to is pretty limited. So you need to rely on others to share your message with others.
So what you can also do is submit your articles to directories like A1articles. Thus your articles will be read by a greater number of people. Also the articles you submit there can be used by anyone on their websites or blog so your message would reach a much larger audience.
Also with A1articles you can include a link to your blog so the readers can always come to your site for more information thus making you famous.
The A1articles directory service appears to be promising however the navigation on the website leaves you in a loop. To help you get get started and save you the trouble here is the register and login link.
