Finally updated my Samsung Galaxy S Advance to Jelly Bean *yay*. Well Samsung had officially made the software update available towards the end of May however people complained of laggy phone after the update hence I didn't update my phone sooner. I've only been using my phone for a few hours after the update so I cannot confirm or deny lag issues. Although as advised on online forums I did perform a factory reset before and after the update.
I got the update done at the Samsung Service Center. It had been raining cats and dogs since dawn so I didn't expect it to be busy but I guess others thought the same too so there was a fair bit of a crowd. Just as a was speaking to the rep to had the phone in their system stopped working so they issued me a manual receipt, and sent my phone into the back room to be worked upon. The rep asked me to wait and I would be called upon once my phone was checked by the technician.
I waited in the waiting area and spent time watching TV (they were playing a local news channel) and watching other customers interactions. I waited for about 2 hours and still no one called my so finally I walked up to the dispatch counter and showed my receipt. I was told to wait for some time and they would go check. With a couple of minutes they were back with my phone with Jelly Bean installed on it. I suspect that because the job wasn't fed in the system they didn't track it or probably as this was all covered by warranty they didn't pay it too much attention. They wouldn't even give me a copy of the receipt untill I insisted.
So a rainy day well spent upgrading phone to Jelly Bean and re-installing apps and backed up data.

So I've bought a new phone recently, not very recently, actually I bought it on the first of January this year. I've been putting off writing about this because I've been lazy and have been spending most of my free time playing games with my phone. Btw I forgot to mention earlier that it is a Samsung galaxy S advance
. It's quite nice, looks decent, compact and performs pretty well. The only drawback is that it's still runs Gingerbread when the rest of the world has moved to ice cream sandwich and are getting jelly bean.
There were rumours floating around that the phone would receive software update to jelly bean in January but my phone does not show any such notifications yet. I've read people rooting and installing updates manually but I've decided not to go down that route considering what happened
with my last phone.Although I haven't given up hope yet that my phone would someday (in the near future) be updated to jelly bean and I can play around with face unlock, Google Now and all the other cool features.
Although it's still on Gingerbread it has a 1gz dual core processor so it feels very snappy in comparison with my previous phone LG Optimus One. Also it has 768mb ram, it would have been better with 1GB ram but it can handle the apps I use so nothing to worry about for now. The camera is 5 MP and has flash and is pretty nice.
Overall it's a nice phone and will be cool once it updates to jelly bean, so I'll wait patiently for the update and not root it too soon: wait:.

Update to a previous post about Unlimited Internet.
I received this message from my service provides Aircel
a few days back, actually it was on the 1st of Dec, but I've been too
busy to post about it.
1 Dec onwards UNLMTD GPRS will be valid only on Phones! Usage on Laptop/Computer will be limited as per ur plan. PI 14-250Mb,PI 28-750 Mb,PI 98-3 GB Condt apply
Afaik "usage on phones" is internet access only for wap sites so accessing full internet websites would be subjected to the above limits. So I've got to be careful with my internet usage, but I don't think I'll even come close to the limit because I have Opera Mini Power
Although I've got to be careful with Opera Mobile and while downloading large files from now.
Do you have a limit on your mobile internet plan?
