The story of Cosmo: We got him and my other bird sunshine when they were just little tiny hatchling only about 4 weeks old. We had lots of time and spent it well. But then sadly one day, I noticed a small bump on his chest the size of a couple marbles. We took him in to get it checked and the doctor told us it was a tumor that could only be removed by surgery. Tumors make birds beaks grow very fast and the doctor told us there was risk in beak trimming as he might get stressed and not survive, but if we didn't he would starve. We went ahead and let them trim his beak and I was so relieved when he came out looking as good as ever.We took him home and he was eating and looked so happy and he kept on chirping. Then a couple months later, we took him in because his beak was getting really long. They took him back and started trimming his beak and when they were about halfway they put him down to rest for a minute. After a little while they started trimming it again and finished it, but when they put him down he didn't get up. The doctor listened to the heart and she could here a faint heart-beat. She gave him epinephrine and oxygen, but sadly it wasn't enough. The doctor came and got my father and she asked if she could talk to him outside for a minute. My heart dropped. I knew something had happened. The doctor talked with my dad for about 5 minutes before she finally came in and told me what happened. We went home with my little budgie and told the family what had happened. They came out and said goodbye to the little bird I had know since 2000. I took him into the fields and buried him in the best place I could find near some flowers and other beautiful plants. Friday, September 25, 2009. Rest In Peace my little blue friend. I hope one day I might see you again.
