Procrastination

Lately i have been feeling, blue and very very tired, even though i didn't do anything out of the ordinary i still find myself waking up at 7:30am as if i didn't sleep at all.

It's interesting that i can detect a repeating pattern of behaviour in my style of life. It's like every once in a while i feel like i just don't care, I don't care about what time it is, i don't care about the fact that i have n deadlines too meet.

It would be great if i could say that now I'm finally over this period of what some may call "depression", but unfortunately I'm not. So i decided not to care about my "depression" and apply the very wise words of John Perry. This means that instead of beating myself up because i failed to complete some task because I'm just to "blue" to do it, i take that time and start using it in another way. I really recommend you read what he has to say.

For example now, just as i type this post into my blog i should be actually coding some stuff, but due to my lack of interest in the project, i just can't get myself to actually do some work on it, even though it should be done by Thursday.

As John Perry would say, instead of waisting this time by surfing the net, i use it in a more productive way and post on my blog. As soon as something more urgent will come along shall be able to work on the coding i should have done today. Till then all i can say is, read what the man has got to say, i shall try to make that my new way of life.

[Update]
As John Perry said, there is no need to do what you are supposed to do, because something more important will always pop up and make sure you have to forget about the 1st task and get on solving the new one. He is soo right, today i got a new task, and even though the last task is due tomorow, due to this new task i can now safelly and calmly post pone it and work on this new task, which is much easier, or maybe start work on the old task, posponing the new one. John you rock!!!

Hi Zsolt, great post...

I think I have the opposite problem P:

When I have to do something, I can't wait to complete it...
And it's not because I'm excited for the task at hand, but because I just won't be able to get it off my mind otherwise P:

I have to finish what I start, even if it means pushing myself P:
And that's not always good.

Guess what? I should have been done with this task, like today, but as always something more important appeared and now i got an extension without even asking for it

I have the same type of problem. I hope it works for me too.

it does not work right away, this needs practice too. you need to spot the other tasks that can be done in the time you are trying to avoid to do the more important one and then actually do them.
