Now that you've clicked the read more link, get ready to read a very long and maybe interesting post.

Just recently i blogged about working out with a trainer and in the same post i mentioned that i had an exam that day. While i was out taking that exam the planets aligned and i received a message from the a representative of the HR(Human Resources) department of one of the biggest if not the biggest Internet companies in Romania.

I'm talking about Neogen, this at first caught me totally of guard because i did not apply for any job there. After talking to her(the HR Manager), I found out that she found me on linkedin which basically means she was out headhunting. Anyway after a quick message we agreed to meet the next day, what can i say i was curios what they had to offer and what lead them to me.

The next day(aka yesterday) I proceeded to the meeting place where i met her, tech guy(sorry dude i didn't remember your name) and an owner, the discussion was an interesting one. I found out that they had visit this little blog, watched my ROSDEV presentation and that they considered i was perfect match for their requirements.

Only then did i find out about the requirements and what they where looking for. As far as i gathered i was going to work on their online dating website. Imagine that, isn't life full of irony? During the interview i was asked to take an aptitude test and a php skill level test, i took them gladly even though during the tests i was more preocupied by the fact that i had to get to work then paying attention to the tests.

At the end of the interview i was told they'd get back to me with an offer later that day and so they did. By the end of the day i knew i was "hired" all i needed to do know was to say a date when i could start. As soon as i delivered the news at home, my family was very happy.

I did not feel the joy of knowing i was going to work at neogen, in fact i was sad. I did not thing at all i just went with the flow and said "yes, I'd like to work here" with out even thinking it through.

The next day i went into the office with one thing on my mind, how the heck am i going to break this news to my current employer, you know the one who took me fishing, but that's not all. A lot of my memories are tied to Medeea Web Works one way or another, it has come to be more then just the place where i work, it's also the place where i live. A lot of good memories, are tied to the great people that work there.

This morning though though, I still had my head up my ass so i broke the news. It was an unpleasant moment for both of us, and only after a few hours of working did I come to realize what I've done. I not only said that i was leaving but i also destroyed something, a friendship a common understanding of the way things work, something more then just a boss-worker relationship and something more priceless then any salary someone else could ever offer me.

All day long all I did was try to get in touch with someone who works at neogen to talk to them too see if it's all that plus a bag of chips, but everybody told me that they only knew people who left neogen for one reason or another.

As more time passed and the more i thought about it, i began to realize that i was about to leave something great. The more i thought about it, the more i realized that here i was somebody, there I'll only be one of many, nameless, faceless, assimilated into a big corporation. Resistance is futile


So neogen hear my answer now and for ever:
I AM NOT LEAVING MEDEEA WEB WORKS
I'm even sorry about ever thinking about it. Tomorrow is a brand new day and i shall start it bright and early at MEDEEA WEB WORKS.
