"Local" Tourist in my Own Counrty

I recently had the privaledge to visit some of the many townships surrounding the city. My business partner and i decide to take our staff on an outing.... and what better a way than to see a little of ones own country.
This an experience that will open your eyes to the way in which the biggest portion of Cape Town's population are living. Despite difficult circumstances and poor living conditions, you will experience the vibrancy and spirit of the South African people.
We started out at the District Six museum (brought tears to my eyes). One really gets to grips and becomes to comprehend some of Cape Town's original atmosphere and history.

We then moved on to the township. Visiting Langa, the oldest township in South Africa. The Township tours took us through the area being shown local industry and community projects and include a visit to a brilliant restaurant. We landed up having lunch in Langa. Sheila Mahloane, proprietor of the Lapa restaurant, prepared a African lunch for us. We actually only managed to get in ( as it was booked toatally out) as our group was a bit of a rarity - as "Locals" don’t normally visit. Strange!? WOW what a meal.
Below pic of me with some of the many children.

I honestly recommend that everyone going to Cape Town or who lives in South Africa takes a township tour. It has nothing to do with politics: it’s just that you get the chance to witness a very different and vibrant way of life, and to see how life is lived by the majority population away from the tourist centers of South Africa.
Thank you to all and our staff for making this such an unforgettable and memorable day for me.
