On corporation Microsoft site there was an updating for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, allowing to reduce consumption by the energy computer. It is actual only for 64-bit systems constructed on the basis of multinuclear processors AMD. Given allows to adjust an operating system for high-grade use of mode Enhanced C1. Enhanced C1 – technology for economy of the electric power, realised in multinuclear processors AMD. Its essence consists in possibility of transition of the processor in a special mode with lowered power consumption C1E. The special controller of timer APIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller) works in system even then when it is not used that leads to an additional power consumption the processor. Updating for OS, in turn, corrects the given problem.
Representatives Microsoft have informed that inclusion of support of this function in Windows 7 allows to reduce consumption by the computer of the electric power to 10 %.
