Chapter 3
Ryuk, The Everlasting Existence
---
“It is sealed. You are now bound to become the next Guardian of Time,”
“The what-? Ryuk, what are you talking about, and why am I here?” I asked confused.
“Yes, you are right, I am Ryuk, in human Form, that is,” Ryuk told me. Surely I was dreaming, I just had to be. I mean, how else was this happening? The coolest guy in school... Not human? “Moving on,” Ryuk monotonously continued, “Your job will be to guard the Time Continuum. I will be the one to teach you.”
“What are you even talking about?” I asked, incredulous.
“You agreed, and now that your blood has been given to this dimension, it, too, is yours. I will instruct you in your studies and watch over you, do not worry. Also, you can visit this dimension, The World of Time, whenever you wish. If you call me, I’ll come and take you, if you so desire.”
“O-o-okay, but can I just go home now, to, you know, just think it over?”
“Yes,” He said, and, with a blinding flash of light I was home again.
---
“I’m home!” I heard myself say as I walked into the door, but I wasn’t doing any of it.
“Great,” my mom said, walking into the kitchen. “How was it?” she then asked me.
“It was cool,” I said again, not knowing what I was doing. “See, yah, I'm going to go out,
‘kay?”
“Have fun!” I heard her say as I walked back outside.
“That is what was meant to be, you cannot change It unless you know how to manipulate time,” a voice inside of my head told me.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“I mean, let me teach you because until then, that will keep happening. Every time you go to another dimension and come back Time will back up a little and you will be forced to do as It says, understand?” Ryuk asked.
“Yes,” I replied.
And, for once, I really, honestly, and truly did.
“Ryuk,” I said in my mind.
“Yes,” he said, forming in front of me. “You need something.”
“What are you? My slave, or something. No offense, but I didn’t exactly expect you to answer…”
“Hey, now. “Slave” is a little derogatory, don’t you think?” He asked, laughing.
“Oh, yeah, sorry about that. I should have thought first,” I replied.
“Don’t worry about it, okay? I was just joking. Most of the humans that I’ve trained that
have asked me that question at one point or another,” he said, looking completely unfazed. “Humans are funny!” he said laughing. I had never seen him laugh so much before. He is always so serious. “From now on, we’re good friends, as you humans call it.”
“Huh, really?” I asked surprised.
“Yeah. Only, even if you get mad, or jealous, or some other negative feeling towards me, I will still be there because I understand that it is just human nature.”
“Cool!” I said, “Friends forever!”
“Well,” he sighed, “Not exactly forever. Once you… die I will have to move on to train the next one.”
“Oh, okay,” I said. “That was a little disheartening, but I’ll do my best.”
“Good, that’s what I want to hear. Well, it’s past six, so you should probably go home now.
“What the hell? How did it get that late? I asked.
“I, too can manipulate the Continuum. Until, that is, you learn how to control It.’
---
“I’m back,” I said as I walked in the back door.
“Where were you?” Mom asked me.
“Hanging out with Ryuk,” I replied.
“Did I not tell you not to hang out with him? He’s three years older than you!” She said,
getting ready to explode again. She just can't deal with the fact that not every single older bay is bad. Some are kind and make good friends.
“Oh, God!! Just leave me alone,” I told her, walking upstairs. Shortly after, I went to bed.
---
I honestly don’t know why they always have to start school on a Thursday. They almost always do and, then, for the older grades, there’s a homecoming dance. As I awoke, I remembered this.
“Goooooood morning!” Ryuk said, making me jump.
“You can't be in here!” I whispered.
“Why not? Your parents left early,” he replied.
“Well, yeah, but my brother’s still here. He’s a third year.”
“So?” Ryuk asked.
“So he’ll mind if you’re here,” I replied.
“Fine then,” Ryuk said, disappearing.
“I can't believe him,” I sighed. Just then, the doorbell rang. “Okay, now I really can't
believe him!”
“I’ll get it,” Haru shouted. As he opened the door, I heard him say,” What the hell are you doing here?” Ryuk and Haru don’t get along very well, as you can imagine.
“I’m here to see Shi, what do you think?” I heard Ryuk reply as I walked into the room.
“I think you’re gonna get outta my house if you want your good health to continue,” Haru angrily told him.
“Sorry, but, no can do,” Ryuk said, pushing right by Haru and walking over to me.
“Hey, Senpai!” I said, acting surprised. I didn’t want Haru think I invited him because he’d blow his top.
“Ready to go?” Ryuk asked.
“Yup,” I replied.
“You aren’t going anywhere with him. I’m, older and so what I say goes,” Haru told me.
“Actually, I'm the oldest here, so I guess that according to your ridiculous logic, what I
say goes,” Ryuk said.
“Let’s go,” I smugly said, walking out.
---
“That was so funny!” I told Ryuk as we drove to school. “Haru can be really annoying at times
and I can never figure out how to piss him off.” I then laughed.
“Well, we probably shouldn’t do that too often, though,” he replied. “If he gets really mad,
then things may get messed up.”
“Oh,” I said, “Okay.”
“Ah, don’t worry so much about all this stuff… For a little while, at least. How does this
weekend sound?”
“Ha ha!” I laughed. “You mean after the dance?”
“Well, yeah,” He replied. “But if I let this happen, then you have got to at least dance. Not
like those other stupid stiffs.” Now was his turn to laugh.
“Fine,” I said, indignantly.
---
“Hey!” DK said, coming up to me. “Where were you this morning? We always walk to school
together…”
“Yeah, well, today Ryuk drove me,” I replied, sensing that at this he may be a little hurt. I
couldn’t help it though. I was excited. I had always liked Ryuk. And DK knew it.
“Oh, okay,” he replied. He tried not to sound disappointed, but it was evident in the
inflection of his voice. I did feel a little remorse then. I felt bad that I had hurt his feelings a
little because he really was always there for me…

This chapter is also fairly short... There are longer chapters coming up. They begin to regain their around 7-8, I believe.
Oh, the next chapter, four, is the one that sparked it all. It started as a paper for an English class.
Well, saya-later~!
