The Mississippi floodplain south of St. Louis and on the Illinois side of the river known as the American Bottom.
Like most people, I love the colors of a sunrise or sunset but more often than not I see them over a less-than-interesting landscape. Not so here. I was driving north up Bluff Road when I caught sight of this pond just off the road. The sky was lovely, the shape of the pond attractive and the vegetation in just the right place. Taken with the Canon 24-105mm zoom lens at 40mm, f/8, 1/13 shutter speed, ISO 1600.
