Welcome to Shoot & Tell Anthony
and Ole Rules update
Markup (HTML and BBCode) on about page became disabled for awhile. Therefore we moved the rules to sticky blog post and decided to keep it there. Recently we also made the URL for this rules post more simple: http://my.opera.com/shootell/blog/rules
Moreover, we moved the editing instructions and tag instructions on to same post and added an index to make it easier to navigate inside the rules page Articles on photography
We started to publish 'Articles on photography
' and they will be published every now and then. The idea is to make our old technical articles available to all, and make them easier to find. And the first on this series is Night photography
written by Orlando. There will be also new articles and stories written by quest authors and photographers. Stay tuned and make sure you have subscribed to our blog on blog front page Meet the moderators
New updated and illustrated introduction of moderators
is now available for members. Currently we have seven moderators. Orlando had to take a leave but we hope to get him back next summer. Warm thanks to Orlando for great work here at Shoot & Tell Big changes coming next year!
There will be huge changes coming on next year. There are some bad news but they can also mean good news
The first big change is that starting from January 1st 2012
, we give up on daily ww/yyyy tags and instead start using mm/yyyy tags
, where mm is number of month with two digits and yyyy is year with four digits. This also means you no longer need to shoot 1-10 pictures per week. Instead, starting from Jan 1st 2012 we ask you to shoot 4-40 pictures per month
. So, no longer need to photograph on weekly bases. Four pictures per month in minimum will be enough
We also got some bad publicity because we closed one album too early. However, keep in mind that we have had the 60 days rule all the time, and that was what we thought we were doing. The rules say: “If we do not hear from you for 60 days, then the inactive album become closed.” We also like to remind you all that we do not delete inactive albums, but we close them. For very good reasons
a member can ask it reopened. Moreover, we like to remind that you can also ask us to put your album on hold by telling us how long you will be unable to update your album.
This also means we need to pay attention to our photograph albums. It is important for us and for all visitors too that we're involved and active in maintaining our albums.
If you start an album here, we are willing to guide you. Albums that are not looked after or where we find no interest from the owner will be closed.
Another change is that we have planned to close most of the forums and links page
because there has been only very little use for them. This is because we want to make it easier for moderators when there are less areas to keep updated. But that way it also would be easier for members in form of simpler top menu and easier blog structure in general. If you think we should keep the forums and/or links page, then please give us feedback here on comments.
Third big change is that starting from January 2012 we will have only one exhibition per month
. This is because we have found two exhibitions takes too much time and effort. The good news however is, that the monthly theme challenge will be extended with one week
. So, every month the theme challenge will start on 10th and it lasts till the end of the month. Then on the monthly exhibition we will post one picture from each of our active member. And each of us can decide whether there will be the theme picture or something else displayed on monthly exhibition
And one more thing. We have decided that from now on we moderators vote for each case where any of us think that the picture does not follow the editing instructions
. This means that if the majority of us moderators vote some picture is not okay, then the picture must be removed and replaced with less edited version if the member wants to do so. The point is that we moderators at Shoot & Tell wish to be fair, and we want to stay unite on each particular case. That is one reason why we keep the group of moderators small and active here at Shoot & Tell; to make sure everyone become treated fair.
