Shoot & Tell statistics

[/img]Here’s some statistics folks, made by Thomas. During last summer we almost got 30 albums at best. But people do come and go. So, average number of members with albums currently varies around 25. We have had a lot of publicity on MyOpera news, and therefore we keep on getting new members. The problem however is that new members often miss the rules. Therefore we added new sticky post for members to remind us all about those rules.

[/url]Every month we have two weeks theme to inspire our members and share some photography techniques. Some of those themes have been extremely popular. For landscape theme members uploaded even 111 pictures. Bugs theme was next popular with 99 pictures. Childhood toys came on third place with 89 pictures. Lets see if we can beat the records with the current feet theme .

[/img] Then we also have a growing number of silent members; people who have joined to S&T but don’t have album. Of course almost half of them don’t follow the group actively or are not even used their MyOpera account for months. We have tried to activate all of our members and we will try to do so also in the future. For example remember that our members can access our forums
and join the discussion there. Or you can post suggestions for useful links
or share ideas for news topics. You can also volunteer to review our theme highlights if you wish. You don’t have to have album. Being a member is enough.

Monitor calibration

Have you ever noticed that your perfect shot, with amazing bright colors on your screen, is not that perfect or has not so amazing colors in your buddy’s screen ? What is black and white on your trusty monitor is a murky dark or light grey on other people’s monitor ?

The difference between screens can be huge, but can be minimized when we calibrate our monitor, so it renders more accurate colors. Interested ?

Don’t forget to shoot and tell

Please, don´t forget to take at least one photograph per week. We have noticed people have missing weeks on their albums.

We have also noticed people keep on forgetting the ‘tell’ part. Please don’t! We recommend you to put more effort on quality than quantity. If you have hard time to come up with a story to every picture you take, then take less pictures per week and try to come up with a good story. A couple of words or even one can be a whole story. If you don’t find straight on the right words, you can add the story later.
Sometimes the story will be ready in your head. It might be a book, a beautiful song...
You might make pictures inspired by them.
