This is my son, Diogo. He is 3 years old. We have this place by the sea - Riacho Beach - North Shore of Alagoas - Northeast of Brazil.

It was this morning... The weather was cool (for us Brazilians) We had a high tide and we both were watching the sea. This is the place we can be together and chill. We were counting the waves when one tiny wave was about to hit us.

Heirloom

The lens of this old camera captured countless precious family moments for us. It still catches beautiful lights and shadows, even it will never be used again.

I had a real free weekend in nearly 6 weeks and was trying to relax, when I thought I'd get my old camera out and clean it a bit. When I was blowing dust off it while sitting by the lounge window, the sun came out behind clouds and shone at the lens, and made me take this picture.

This used be my dad's camera. At least 38 years old, maybe even 40. Countless family photos were taken with this. The mechanism still works but the lens is becoming mouldy and material has started to deteriorate inside. Will be no good as a camera any more, even if I can get hold of film to fit in.

Still I can tell you this is the reason why I want to try more with photography.
