Hello World

You don't know me, but you will

Update on Gomez

, ,

Every saturday afternoon Gomez goes to school. I enrolled him in the puppy training class at our local PetSmart last month and now he's about half-way through the eight week long class. I am very pleased with our progress. I have been working with him on the following commands:

- Sit
- Down
- Stay
- Leave it ("Ignore that plate full of people food, buddy...")
- Drop it ("Spit it out! Don't you know rocks aren't good for you?")
- Come (Well, it's s work in progress. He comes to a high pitched series of pups: "puppuppuppuppuppuppuppuppup!")

I have also gotten a bunch of useful tips on puppy care and understanding and some fun bonding games. I am really happy with the trainer, too! ^v^

Rocks? Well, at least he's not eating glass and licking extremely sharp knives. That's scary, if somehow cute.

At one time I had a part-Dalmatian who badly needed training of any kind. She was a little (a lot) crazy and when the awards were being handed out at the end of the school I asked what award I could have and she said, perhaps a little sarcastically, "Your reward is an obedient dog". I guess she knew I didn't even get that. I hope Gomez and you both benefit from school. Actually, I think the secret is the owner needs to be taught. I see dogs in exhibitions and stuff and wonder how in the world people have the patience and wisdom to teach those dogs.

How do you get a dog to do all those kind of things. Because my dog barks when someone comes to the door, and he doesnt stop till they are gone. Is it possible to make him stop?

Thankyou sooooo much. Maybe my dog will stop in the near future. We have already heard him say mama a few times. But he will only do that when he is excited.

So, Thankyou for the advice.

Wow, he's catching on. Fast learner?
