A Story--Part One

, ,

This is part one of a story that I wrote with the help of Kim. It's something I'm going to be sending to actor Bill Daily. Feel free to comment!

“Hey Amby, what should I write about to get the attention of actor and comedian Bill Daily?”

“Hmm. How about you do a story about a contest where we win and get to meet him?”

Evil considered the idea but then decided against it. She decided to write, instead, a story about what made her unique. Different.

Evil is a writer. She loves to write edgy stories about strength and confidence. She lives vicariously through her stories, as her life is rather boring. Evil is anything but boring, though. She is shy and quirky, naturally awkward in public, and suffers from moments of insecurity.

Amby is Evil’s best friend New York City roommate. Where Evil is more serious and sarcastic, Amby loves to laugh and have fun. The two have a great friendship and balance each other out quite perfectly—until now.

“Why won’t you do a story about a contest? Don’t you like my idea?” Amby asked with a quiver in her voice. She folded her arms over her chest, her blue eyes filled with sadness.

“Of course I like your idea Amby! But that’s the kind of story you’d write. Not me.”

This hurt Amby’s feelings but she pushed that aside. “Okay well what are you going to write about then? And will we be in it? Will we meet Bill Daily in it? You know how much I’d love to meet him.”

Evil smiled. She sure did know that. “I’m not sure what my story will be about just yet, but I know you’re going to love it, as will Mr. Daily hopefully!”

“Can I help you write it?”

Evil had know Amby would ask that and she thought briefly how best to answer the question. “Nah but I will totally have you help me with parts of it and I’ll give you credit for helping, too!”

“Cool,” Amby said with a grin. “Okay well I’m going to go play basketball with ELF and some others but good luck writing your story! Hope you’ll let me read it and hope it turns out great.”

“You’re going to spend time with ELF? Well, good luck with that and hope he keeps the lies to a minimum!” Evil said with a laugh. Their friend ELF was always coming up with tall tales of celebrities he worked for and people he met—none of which were ever true. He just loved having the attention focused on him.

“So how’s the story going? Got it finished yet?” Amby asked about two hours later. She set down a mesh bag of groceries and began to put them away.

“Nope, not done yet,” Evil replied absently. Truth be told, Evil was having a hard time writing. Her goal was to show how she’s different from other fans of Bill Daily’s. But what did make her different?

“Hey Amby, what makes me unique as a fan of Bill Daily?” Evil asked. She hoped Amby’s answer would give her an idea.

“Well, most fans have seen him in a lot of things but you’ve only seen him in The Match Game.”

“Not true! I’ve seen him in a few episodes of I Dream of Jeannie!”

“You don’t know much about him?” Amby shrugged.

“Wow. Well…I’m looking for things that show that I am a fan, so anything else?”

“Well you help me out with a forum for fans of Mr. Daily and you help me come up with story ideas about him.”

“Ooh that’s great stuff. Thanks!”

“You’re welcome,” Amby said. She was always happy to help a friend. “Anything else?”

“Nope, I’m good.”

“Okay. Know what you’re going to write, now?”

Instead of answering Evil muttered a brief, “You’ll see,” and got lost in writing again.
