Cleaning menu system patches

Added patches

PATCH-509, cnnturk: work around CSS bug that causes footer content to float upwards as margins collapse.

PATCH-506, YouTube: avoid Silverlight uploader. Core bug where passing Array-like objects between browser and plug-in fails. Now opera falls back to Flash uploader. Ideally it would use the new XHR uploader, but Opera hasn't implemented the upload methods of XHR2 yet.

PATCH-503, Work around Transmenu's browser sniffing.

PATCH-498, Yahoo! Japan services block Opera from using Silverlight plugin in sniffing script.

PATCH-494, Washingtonpost: avoid articles being overwritten in race condition.

Removed patches

PATCH-412, Prevent old script from hiding IFRAMEs on pgatour. Site fixed.

Transmenus - replaced with PATCH-503

CoolMenus - very limited use
Xaramenus - very limited use
SoThinkMenus - very limited use

thanks for cnnturk

Thanks for cnnturk fix.

If it about web site, and if you can send it why it happens i can contact with cnnturk.

Ola P. Kleivenolak Tuesday, September 27, 2011 2:54:12 PM

cnnturk is a weird Core issue. So is the other bug you reported. Not so weird, but a Core issue.

Çağlar Yeşilyurtgreench Tuesday, September 27, 2011 5:04:34 PM

Thank you for cnnturk. It must be hard to fix it. smile Thank yo so much. Good working.

I couldn't resist uploading the reduced demo for the CNNTurk bug - it's really baffling, Opera magically "animating" another element than the JS is manipulating. Have a look at this:
http://files.myopera.com/hallvors/testcases/CORE-41401.htm
Bad behaviour, Opera wink

metude Wednesday, September 28, 2011 1:18:44 PM

@hallvors Thanks for demo. What happens if i resist to fix this and ask each build in desktopteam blog comments? Is Opera developers interest with this bug, early?

Valynor Wednesday, September 28, 2011 3:58:57 PM

I can't update to the latest sitepatch.
Still says "Target version and time stamp of the active browser.js file is Opera Desktop 11.50 core 2.9.168, September 20, 2011. Active patches: 177 ." after several manual tries.

It won't help. The bug is in my priority queue and will be fixed eventually. But there are many bugs before it on the list, and since I decide which sitecompat bugs are to be fixed it will have to bubble up like other bugs smile

This is a Core regression from fixing our list-item implementation earlier. I've reported CORE-41543 and will see to it being fixed.

Rafael Luikrafaelluik Wednesday, September 28, 2011 11:01:07 PM

Hey I can't get this version or any other version via auto-update on my Windows computers! And I'm using Ubuntu Live CD, installed Opera and just can't get it too!

I'll have to download it manually like I said to another member do on this topic. :/

Ola P. Kleivenolak Thursday, September 29, 2011 9:03:17 AM

You're right, something fishy on the server again. Will fix.

Edit: should work now.

Assuming you meant "insist" instead of "resist" wink - what would happen is that you would simply annoy the desktop team. This bug is in Core, so our mates on the desktop team are neither going to fix it themselves nor influence the internal priority of the fix. So please don't do that - leave the nagging of developers to Ola, and he will get it fixed eventually and obsolete the browser.js patch smile

Uncle MickMickeyjoe-Irl Thursday, September 29, 2011 12:19:48 PM

Now that we can check what version of browser.js is installed. Would it be possible to to include version information in these posts?

Thanks in advance. smile

Uncle MickMickeyjoe-Irl Thursday, September 29, 2011 6:48:05 PM

doh Of course.

timmi Thursday, September 29, 2011 7:38:24 PM

Mh, is it only me or does the Browser JS break at the missingplugin.svg?
I have "enable plug in only on demand" enabled and dragonfly breaks at the Browser JS at line 548.

Opera Desktop 11.50 core 2.9.168, September 27, 2011. Active patches: 180

Can please somebody check if it is my profile or if the browser js is really broken.

Ola P. Kleivenolak Friday, September 30, 2011 6:00:30 AM

Can't reproduce. Any extensions or similar?

timmi Friday, September 30, 2011 8:58:25 AM

Ah, i didn't see the try-catch around that code block, so it seems its okay. It just caught my interest because i have "break on exception" enabled at dragonfly and it breaks every time there.

No extensions, tested on a clean installation.

metude Friday, September 30, 2011 10:56:54 AM

Disqus comments doesn't working in 12.00.1076. When will you fix? (We're using disqus.)

Yes, in same way I was stuck at 20th. Then I manually downloaded 27 September 2011 BrowserJS file from Opera-

Hi,

There is a problem on http://www.metalurjigenc.org/ web site's footer tag cloud. If you change the tab by clicking right or left arrows on footer, tag cloud stays there. Could you confirm

What is the correct date for the current browserjs for 11.5x as of this blog post?

Yes, 20 and 27 were there before but now they aren't.

It should be 27 but they're having problems with the server.

I was guessing server issues or a bug w/ the patch

Rafael Luikrafaelluik Saturday, October 1, 2011 7:53:59 PM

Earlier on this post Ola said the bug was known and fixed but it wasn't. :/

It has been fixed, just not in a public build yet.

When it will be public? or can you publish an update for browser.js if it will be solved like this.

Ola P. Kleivenolak Monday, October 3, 2011 9:37:21 AM

Next desktop snapshot. Using browser.js to patch a very shortlived bug in a pre-alpha version would be a waste of time (besides, this bug isn't patchable)

Pre-alpha versions must be expected to be unstable and contain ugly bugs. That's what they are for.

Çağlar Yeşilyurtgreench Monday, October 3, 2011 10:43:20 AM

Hi, Ola
I reported the bug that I pointed above as DSK-288890. Could you give more details about status of the bug?

I think we need to access of the bug status monitor smile

Still not working for me, every time i check to see if Current browser.js is the latest i get status: disabled. i wonder if the server is still having problems, i did a clean install and says it's still disabled.

Çağlar Yeşilyurtgreench Tuesday, October 4, 2011 5:15:42 AM

Thank you,
There is an not important issue, again smile http://www.yapikredi.com.tr/ doesn't show embedded flash content on its home page. In case of going home page, Opera is being redirected to nonflash page which doesn't include any flash contents. You can assume Opera will work properly on MainPage.aspx page but I think there is an issue related to Javascript because of not displaying flash contents again. If Opera hasn't any bug, Opera should display correct page after contacting the bank about this issue. I reported it as DSK-347427.
