Sitepatching updates

tweaking the broken code until it works, one site at a time

MS community

Added patches
PATCH-619, Emulating IE breaks Microsoft fora. As discussed here it recently became impossible to post new comments on social.microsoft.com with Opera after they upgraded their software. Until IE9, document.getSelection() would return a string, while window.getSelection() would return a selection object. For compatibility Opera implemented the same behavior. Fast forward to now, the upgraded MS community site depends on the new spec compliant behavior where both methods return a selection object.

Incidentally, just before Easter we completed a rewrite of Presto's Range and Selection implementation that also fixes this. But until that reaches public builds Hallvord wrote a one-liner to fix this site.

document.getSelection=function(){return window.getSelection();}

PATCH-617, missing QuickView background color on Forever21.co.jp. Missing styles.

PATCH-88, Make links work on Aeonretail. Outdated jQuery plugin detects Opera and scrolls up.

Removed patches
206810, Prevent britishairways.com from reloading the page on resize. Site changed.

Unbreak Dojo 1.7Delta, Terra, Congo

Thanks, it's working well now.

It is quite funny - to me, at least - that we fail on microsoft.com because we are more closely compatible with older IEs than IE9 is. Microsoft breaks backwards compatibility, Opera suffers. Did you see that coming? :-p

Hi,

Blogger has a new compability issue with Opera.
1-Go to http://2seksen.blogspot.com/ with using Opera and Chrome
2-Look at the right edge of the page. You will see RSS icon on Opera and more icons on Chrome.

Do Opera and Chrome render different pages?

This is a general Google Blogger issue about widgets. http://prntscr.com/8s8jp at the right side of the page, there is only one widget on Opera, whereas there are four widgets on Firefox.

Are there any reported issues in bug tracking system?
