monday morning

, , , , ,

I have this week off from work, so my mood is fantastic. It's a great week for personal development and slouching around. Clean the house? Oh no, mustn't do something so needed as that.

I started the morning off with a large strong coffee and some shaking of the the house with some trance from Soma FM. I like the channel called Tag's Trip:

"Tag's Trip: Progressive house / trance. Tip top tunes."

I have plenty of heavy/good stuff to read this week, plus I have chats lined up all over the globe. It still amazes me how the computer can so easily traverse the planet. When I was younger, any international communication cost a fortune, now you pay the monthly ISP fee, or go sit in the free-wifi public library, and off you go!

This addiction to international communication goes way back for me. It has included letter writing (a long time ago), playing with the phone system :D , "slight" manipulation of the CB Radio service, Amateur Radio, then the Internet.

Calling CQ, CQ, CQ, CQ DX. Can you hear me?

Hey, a week off is great. The cleaning will be there tomorrow.

My high school boyfriend started out with the CB then took the test to be a Ham operator. He was thrilled when he passed it! For 35 years or more after, I remembered his call number....or is it 'handle'? TRG...something. I no longer remember the numbers. Whenever I'd be over at his house for dinner, he'd let me talk to people a little. I remember one of them was a trucker. The trucker told me 'little girls shouldn't be on the radio'. I don't think there were very many female Ham operators back then so I guess I was invading their territory.

Perfect! I tell my mother something similar when she gets upset that she's not getting things done. I also sometimes say, "the planet will turn another day even if you don't get it done." If it gets ultra-serious, I say, "why don't you just walk out the front door and burn the place down.! :D

Now that would eliminate the fun and mystery! I'm a Chippendales dancer and race speed boats. Doesn't everybody online do this?

Today's net chats:

  • Russian Federation.
  • Iran.
  • Vietnam.
  • Vietnam again.
  • Mexico.
  • North Carolina, USA, lol.

All so lovely! Nice friends.

A week off! Cool!

One day I'll slow down on this chat stuff. Back when I was on a dialup connection, my mother once complained that she'd tried to call me for 3 months to only get a busy signal. :yikes:

Everybody says I should patronize the locally owned hip and chic coffeeshop, but their beans *suck*. The beans are dry and lifeless, and way expensive, so I get all my coffee at the Starbucks. I have a bean grinder and a French press. Very yummy.

After I have the giant coffee half consumed and my hands start to shake, I'll usually have a romping net chat going in the morning with somebody in Russia, India, or Iran, or all 3 at once. At the same time I read the news from unusual sources. It's a nice way to start a day off from work. :coffee:

This only happens when I have time off from work, otherwise I'm usually hauling ass down the interstate to get somewhere. In that case I try for a quick coffee stop at McDonald's. Theirs is the best. If not available, Burger King is #2. All the others suck.
