old woman drinking a guinness

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

My mom downing a glass. She hasn't felt well for awhile, so she thought a little lubrication would help. I took her to the doctor this morning, then to a pub later. lol

What she is drinking is not completely a Guinness. The pub calls it a "Black and Tan". It's half Guinness and half Bass. In the picture, you can see that the glass is dark at the top and lighter at the bottom. It's the Guinness floating on top of the Bass. Yummy and very helpful for the elderly. beer

I don't know how I missed this. That had to be good for what was ailing her. I'm sure those studies that say beer can be of benefit to cardiac health are correct.beer Hopefully, she's a happy drunk.smile

She's not a drunk, but I kid her about that all the time. I bought her a half gallon of premixed White Russian and told her: "We'll that will last about 3 days."

She and some of the other old women get together and play cards sometimes, and she loves to offer them a cocktail. I sometimes ask if she wants me to go out and get them some cigars.

I know, and I wasn't attempting to suggest she is. I meant that she's happy when she drinks versus some folks who get quite depressed after a beer. Apologies for not clarifying that better.

A little nip helps the old ones sometimes. ie. The Baldwin sisters (Waltons).

Would you believe my daugher and son in law bought me a gallon bottle of Southern Comfort for Mother's Day? I burst out laughing and asked "Are you sure this will last me till my final days?" I have about one or two drinks a month.

I think that's a nice photo of your mom.

Janis Joplin's favorite! drunk

Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' fer a train
When I's feeling nearly faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down, just before it rained
And rode us all the way to New Orleans
