groceries, american cheese, grapes, tomato
...
I went out today to do a traditional human activity of hunting for food, though the concept of "hunting" only involved pushing around a shopping cart and slipping a plastic card into a slot to pay for it. I didn't have to ride on a horse wielding a spear, shoot arrows with a bow, or build a fire to cook an animal I'd just butchered. It couldn't have been easier. The only time humans have to battle each other for food in a supermarket is when a sale item is about to run out.
In the quest for yet another post about little or nothing, I'll show some featured items from today's "hunt."
Image #1: Kraft Singles. It's "prepared cheese product", but it's very good on a tomato sandwich or made into a grilled cheese. I've bought the product many times, but today the label made me laugh. The words "dontcha wanna be ......a White American?" ran through my head. I don't think that's how Kraft intended it.
Image #2: The store calls these "Champagne grapes." They're small, about the size of peas, and extremely sweet and yummy. A bonus is that you get to think about drinking Champagne as you eat them.
Image #3: A store-bought tomato. It's a typical supermarket tomato. It's bred for surviving shipping, not for taste, juiciness, or texture. The color is perfect. Some shopper will buy such a pretty tomato, though its appearance is a fraud. It sits atop the package of White American.

road food, waffle house, huddle house, food
...
They aren't the type places I like to stop during the day when there are choices, but late at night, or out in the middle of nowhere, a
Huddle House or
Waffle House can seem like an oasis when there's nothing else around. They never close.
It isn't necessary to order something from the menu. You can just tell them what you want, and you'll often get a nicer meal as a result. I often like a giant customized
BLT on Texas toast with a big-azz coffee.
I stopped at this one before heading back to the hotel. In the morning, the hotel will have a free breakfast and I can eat again!

brocheta, kebob, quintana roo, eating
...
We're slowly uploading pictures from our recent trip to Cancun to
the flickr account. If you like to eat, Cancun is a good place. I gained three pounds.
Image #1: A sweet, yet potent, piña colada. Refreshing looking!
Image #2: In the English menu, someone slipped and put a question mark over the chicken section. "Chicken?" We sometimes made jokes about the cats in the nearby alley disappearing one by one.
Image #3: My flaming brocheta (shish kebab). Note the liquor being poured over it to make it burn. Yummy!

Image #4: The fire is out and the brocheta is ready to eat.

salt vinegar, potato chips, avatar, dinner
...
Dinner for one = two tomato sandwiches + salt and vinegar chips.
All I lacked was a Coke to go with it, but I didn't have any, so I had cold water instead. That saved me a couple of hundred calories.
While having dinner, I watched
Avatar on DVD. It's an exciting but stressful film. The parallels with with current events were amazing.

holiday, cookout, cook out, party
...
I swear, no more pork after this week, but we were invited to this pig pickin', and there's no reason to ever turn down homemade barbecue.
Image #1: this other myopera guy went in a kilt, or was it a field hockey skirt?
Image #2: Chris, the celebrated chef and host, shows off his homebrew oven and three pork shoulders cooking.
Image #3: Dogs! They acted as miniature Hoovers for anything that was dropped.
Image #4: the men hanging around the meat. It must be man meat! Who's ready for some man meat?
Image #5: 200 degrees and counting. It's nearly done.
Image #6: the smoke makes it good.
Image #7: How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat? The barbecue is ready.
Image #8: chop, chop, chop!
Image #9: the remains.

road food, fried, pickles, food
...
Fried pickles, probably not a delicacy. I like fried green tomatoes better.
They were OK but far too greasy. I encountered these during my travels in South Carolina this week.

enchiladas suizas, service, waiter, restaurant
...
It's what I had for dinner on the way back to the hotel from work: chicken swiss enchiladas.
The food was good but the waiter paid me no attention at all. He was busy with a table of two young girls. My age being double theirs, plus my lack of tits and a vagina resulted in me being totally ignored.
Hey, I'm middle aged. I kind of have tits. They're not perky though.

health, eating, banana, breakfast
...
The other morning I had
this healthy breakfast of coffee, 3-egg omlette, and a brownie.
This morning was my easy yogurt shake.
- Scoop a lot of non-fat plain yogurt into a blender.
- Drop in a banana.
- Squeeze in a bunch of honey.
- Pour in some soymilk and orange juice.
- Couple of teaspoons of bee pollen.
Whip it up and gulp the mother down!If this is too healthy, have a Big Mac and a cigarette later.
