slinking into the weekend

, , , ...

I was in two airports this morning at the asscrack of dawn. I had to work last night until 11pm, and *still* had to make a 6:30am flight. My company does this because it saves them money. I am actually OK with it because I get home sooner and flights that early aren't usually delayed. As I was walking through both airports, I noticed all the bars were pushing mojito cocktails. I guess this is the current drink-in-vogue. We did drink a lot of them at Burning Man last month with these guys:

Paul and Russ

So anyway, I was thinking about a mojito all day, just knowing I had everything at home to make one, until I opened the fridge and discovered I had almost nothing to make a mojito. It was hard to face that after my mouth was watering for one all day, plus we are out of beer.

At this point we had to go into "plan B", which was a Margarita. It was a good one, but I decided I didn't want a second one, so I opened a bottle of something called "Verdi Spumante." The Verdi website describes their product as this:

VERDI
SPARKLING ITALIAN FUN.

Verdi Spumante is a natural, sparkling beverage imported
from Italy.

Deliciously sparkling and zesty, it has a soft and fruity flavor.
Serve chilled to fully enjoy its balanced, clean, delightful taste.

Verdi Spumante is a perfect crowd pleaser for every occasion.
Its elegant taste appeals to all…and its re-sealable cork closure preserves the sparkle until you’re ready for the next glass.

It’s the new fun drink alternative and the fastest-growing sparkling Italian Spumante in the U.S.!

Yeah, it was really sweet, but interesting for a change of pace as I've never had this type beverage before. I'm not sure what that bottle of Verdi was doing in my refrigerator anyway. I think it's been in there for over a year.

*SATURDAY*

I think all I have on tap for tomorrow is maybe a nice dog walk in the park, then some shopping at Target. Halloween candy is on sale, and I need some khakis for work

Tomorrow night is "Sex Kitten Roundup" at the local club/disco. This is just a bawdy and borderline ridiculous show that they put on every once in awhile. We like to go just to see who else turns up, and it's a prefect excuse to drink some Coronas.

*SUNDAY*

Sunday will be a hunt for some good food day.

That's about it for the weekend.

Oh, I was napping on the sofa earlier with the television on. I kept sort of waking up and hearing somebody talking about "boning a chicken." For just a moment I was confused about what they meant. :D  p:

Time for a periodic screenshot. The wallpaper is from our very own camera. I like it!

random pics from burning man 2009

We made it out to Burning Man again this year. The last time we went was in 2004. It took five days to get there, and five to return. Whew! I charged all the gasoline for the truck to a credit card. All hell will break loose later.

Burning Man is a life-changing experience. Wikipedia has more on Burning Man if you've never heard of it.

We've uploaded hundreds of pics and some vids to flickr. They can be found by clicking on the images below. They're not quite organized yet, but they are there.

Image #1: The Man anchors the temporary city in the desert. There were over 40,000 participants this year, maybe 44,000 I heard.

overnight at another truckstop

Continuing east on the journey home from burningman, we are overnighting (boondocking in RV lingo) at another Pilot travel center in Missouri. Just 980 more miles to go. Sometimes we use the trucker
showers at these places. They are nicer then you would think with locking doors and a tiny private room. More about life on the road later.

This is the front of the road slave that we towed to the Burning Man festival in Nevada in 2004. Round-trip from our home to there and back is about 5,300 miles (8,530 km). We'll be prepping her all summer to make the trip again this fall to Burning Man 2009!

I'm finally at my last stop for work this week in Florence, South Carolina. No cheap TV tonight, I got net! I logged on and immediately bought 2 tickets for the Burning Man festival this fall in Nevada.

We went to Burning Man in 2004 and are looking forward to it again this year. We took pics and they are here. Yay! I'm so ready to go back.
