reporting adult images on my opera

, , , ...

I do believe that porn has no place in this community website, and the myOpera TOS, terms of service, makes fair mention of it. I never post any of it myself, well at least not here.

There is, however, a dilemma.

Sometimes it takes me a fair amount of time to determine what is pornography. Often I have to gaze at an image for quite awhile before I can make a determination. Then, and only then, do I feel that it is appropriate to report it. This is only to spare others the tedious evaluation process that I, myself, just had to go through. :D

The late great senator from North Carolina, Jesse Helms, I believe was a master evaluator. He always said, "I know it when I see it." I'm not always so sure.

One issue: Why can a man whip off his shirt, but when a woman does it, the planet wobbles off its axis and the sky starts to fall? I guess being at the Burning Man festival for a week has skewed me for awhile.

Y'all know this is tongue-in-cheek, right? p:

best comment i've seen on slashdot in ages - state of the union

, , ,

There's an article today on slashdot about yet another way that we're getting screwed by the corporatocracy, this time again over IP, or Intellectual Property.

The following comment sums up the state of things pretty well. I love the irony. Sometimes irony truly hits the nail on the head. Establishing federal IP cops looks like another bad ding-bat solution to something.

It is true. IP is the most important issue facing us in America. We have solved all of our problems. The oil crisis is solved, healthcare rates are affordable and healthcare service is impeccable. Its so nice to see that we really do not need alternative energy and that our economy is providing everyone a comfortable life style where only a single parent can work while the other parent raises the children. Education is more solid than ever. We are raising a nation of math wizards capable of programming in asm on the spot. Our government is finally loyal to the American citizen and corruption has been eradicated.

NOW.. we can finally tackle the issue of downloading music and movies illegally, and impose death on those that do.
