Another week on the road in South Carolina.

I went to Olive Garden for lunch to fill up on salad, and now I'm in the lobby of another badass Motel 6 because the wifi signal is weak in my room. A guy in a Lincoln pulled up screeching the tires. He ran up to the hotel desk and asked the woman there, "I need a room for 45 minutes, just 45 minutes, you got anything?" She stepped away for about a minute, came back and said, "$20...cash". He tossed a twenty, she tossed the key. I couldn't help but glance into the passenger side of the Lincoln. NASTY! lol.

Love for sale...rooms by the hour. We'll leave the light on for you.

What is this thing? It has been ages since I've touched one of these. Picking up a hotel room phone is asking for trouble anyway, like mysterious charges on your bill. Now all our calls just fly
through the air. Before cell phones and the net, the landline was the miracle of the world. Instant real-time communication at the touch of a button or the turn of a dial. I miss the old days of
phone phreaking.

I'm staying in a Motel 6 this week while working some hell shifts in Charlotte, North Carolina. Motel 6 has a reputation that frankly sucks, but this one is actually nice. It's modern, clean, and has a shower that even Joan Crawford would love. All this joy for $35.99 a night, almost hard to believe. It's raining like crazy outside, and I've watched all the Law and Order I can stand, so now I'm on Opera Mini. Home on Friday. Next week Los Angeles.
