Free HotSpots near you?

When traveling it would make life so much easier if I knew ahead where to go to find a wifi hotspot.
I know that I can hook up with The Cloud (Pan-Europe), AnchorFree (Pan-US)
But what about country-, or city specific hotspots. Where do I go in London, when shopping in New Bond Street, or in Rome somewhere around the Spanish Steps? If you go to Starbucks anywhere in the US, chances are high that there is a T-Mobile hotspot present.
I'd be interested in what the situation is in your area?
