Today's meeting was about physical activity.
Combined with healthy eating, an active lifestyle can help you lose weight. There are plenty of other reasons for keeping active. Being active helps you feel good in mind and body, helps you feel more energetic, it can help you relax, it helps you keep more supple and mobile as you get older. It helps your heart work more efficiently, improves your circulation and can help protect against heart disease and osteoporosis.
Aim to build up to 30-45 min of moderate activity on 5 days of the week (but increasing your current activity even by 10 minutes a day can have significant benefits). This includes activities such as brisk walking, swimming, gardening, dancing and other sporting activities that are energetic enough to leave you slightly breathless. Activities in the house such as washing windows or scrubbing floors can also provide health benefits.

Choose an activity that you enjoy, and remember that being more active doesn't have to mean playing sports. Try being more active in day to day living (e.g walking to the shop, taking the dog out, take the stairs). You can use a pedometer to tell you how many steps you have walked in a day and aim to improve on it.
I also tried to talk about impact the hormones have on gaining/loosing weight. Julie said that the influence is not entirely known but her being a dietcian for about 19 years now she can tell it's not much.
Gaining weight is in most cases related to change in our lifestyles and habits like eating more and excercising less.
I made a decision to run around the block once every day - not much as it should only take me about 10 mins but hopefully makes me more fit and help me loose some weight.
