Okay so it's been 100 Degrees this week so I have to admit we haven't been going on our walks lately. Just to baby boot camp & that's it. By mid afternoon I'm practicaly melting. Well today we went to a great park after our baby boot camp class. Not only did it have fantastic play equipment for the older kids, but it has a little water area for the young to midsize kids too. The water shoots out of holes in the ground 10-15' high, the kids all run around laughing and screaming. I have just as much fun watching them as I do watching my own. Even mom here had a good time getting hit by the water as I chased after Memphis! It was a great alternative to our stiffiling walks that we both enjoyed, I think I'll have to make it apart of our weekly routine. Any other ideas on hot day activities?

Wow, raining off and on almost all week and it sure gets boring

. Between the baby underfoot and the dogs in the house almost all day, I feel like I might be going a little stir crazy. I'd love to get out and go for a walk, or the store, or something, but I hate taking the babe out in the rain. Most of the time Memphis is content to entertain himself. Like right now he's playing my guitar, and it actually sounds pretty good. Ahhh sunny days where are you?

We went to a Family Expo at our local fairgrounds this weekend. It was interesting, a lot of stuff to do for kid 3 or older. We just got out to pet the animal in the petting zoo. Memphis seemed to enjoy it, but I thought it was tragic. Luckily he couldn't sense my apprehension at seeing all those animals being fondled by children. Many of them were shaking, but I swear one horse was sedated, I thought he was going to lay is head on the table and fall asleep. Anyway, I want Memphis to form those opinions on his own and not be influenced by me.
What I thought was cool, and half of me wanted to try it myself, was this rock wall they had for the older kids. There was a little girl around 9 climbing it trying to get to the top (about 25 feet). She would make it up just so far, get scared and come back down. The great thing was is she wouldn't give up and each time she'd make it just a little further. I really thought it was inspiring, that is the confidence I hope to instill in my child(ren).

Well Memphis' 1st birthday was yesterday, we must have sung to him 6 or 7 times. We had his big party on Saturday and there were about 50 people there, 15 of which were kids. What a day, but Memphis did great, he interacted with the other kids pretty well, handled the crowd, didn't get freaked out. He fell asleep about half way through the party, but most of the party guests were kind enough to tough it out until he woke up to eat his cake and open presents (none of which he did; he stared at the cake and I opened the presents).
He wasn't into the whole traditional cake mashing thing. He's just too gentle of a soul for that, he just stared at it, and the people staring at him. It was all over so quick, you know. The party, baby-hood, the whole thing and now he's a toddler...

Memphis' 1st birthday is one week away (and 2 days). I really can't believe it has been a year already. Time really does go by fast. I remember how I was feeling one year ago. Hudge, bloated (you should have seen my feet & ankles), having sleepless nights because I was getting both excited and very nervous. I mean, what would it feel like, could I really handle the pain, would he be healthy? Chuck was home from work, my Mom was down, the energy in the house was immense. All of us waiting anxiously for the beautiful gift that would soon arrive...
