Ubuntu part II - How to get RTL8187 to work?!

About my wireless lan:
Actually it's the same problem I experienced when I was configuring Ubuntu for my notebook, I cannot use WPA TSK encryption which sucks...Why is it such a big problem to get this stupid Realtek cards working properly? I really start to hate Realtek wireless lan solutions and next time I'll be sure not to buy any wirless solution involved with Realtek...At least not until I'm sure that it will work properly with Ubuntu...
I found some drivers and tried to follow the steps described in many bulletin boards and the readme to install them. (You can find them here) but until now I wasn't able to compile them properly...
I'll be sure to let you know if I'll be able to solve this problem.
About my fluxbox:
Well shouldn't be such a big problem, at least I could use the normal fluxbox version (which works just fine) instead of the svn version.. But I really wanted to see the fenzy transparency...
Well that is all about my progress configuring my Ubuntu
Don't forget about the demo in Berlin, starting at 14:30

Hi, you can try ubuntu with kernel 2.6.22 from gutsy and use the driver from opensuse 10.3, its working for me. But I could not get this to work with other kernels.
If you have problems to use suse drivers on ubuntu, I can help, mail me:

If I should find a better solution (working for the other kernels) I'll let you know.

I got WPA mode to work in in mandriva 2007 by compiling this driver
http://rtl-wifi.sourceforge.net/wiki/Main_Page
wpa_supplicant.conf:
====================
#add something like don't forget to change psk=
network={
ssid="wirelan"
scan_ssid=1
proto=WPA
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
psk=hfhdhfshhsahlh887437027027840720ishjoiwehuorhu202337423002378333
pairwise=CCMP TKIP
group=CCMP TKIP
}
ifcfg-wireless:
===============
# must use ==> ipw

But even that is not enough...After updating the kernel last time I got problems with my XServer (something about the kernel version and my graphic drivers...)So I tried to remove the nvidia drivers and use the normal drivers..During this procedure something went really wrong and now I I cannot boot Ubuntu. When I'll have the time I'll have a look into this...
Anyway thanks to your help I got my notebook wireless to work with the network manager...
Instead of manually configuring it

My realtek rtl8187 is working, but very slowly; 16 % is upper average. I have been searching and reading forums for hours now, and nothing has improved this issue. I did manage to get from no wifi to at a least a weak signal by using some (prepare for appalling newbi-ism) kind of "modprobe" which I simply copy & pasted into terminal. I have seen many postings and no sure fixes.
