Like A Teapot

Swamp at sunset

This set of pictures taken this past summer at a rather isolated provincial park makes me feel sad though I also like them very much, especially with the moon and the last shred of sunlight captured.

The Moustache Test

,

You Are Outgoing and Lively
You are a talkative and friendly person. You are unpretentious and truly warm hearted.
You are accepting of all people, and you have a fondness for anyone who's willing to listen to your stories.

Some people may complain that you can be self-centered. And it's true that you do like to do most of the talking in a conversation.
But you're so witty and cheerful that it's hard to complain too much. You are the person who is keeping things exciting.

A strange feeling

I got news today that my overbearing grandfather passed away yesterday, after a stroke on Saturday. I did not feel much, except for the imaginable impact of the event on my mother. My own father passed away ten years ago and it was quite a shock for me even though he had been ill for quite some time. So I can imagine what it is like with my mother although her memory would be very different. I find my thoughts keep turning to my grandmother, who though only a housewife was wise and fair. She is the only person on that side of the family who has truly loved me. She passed away some years ago unfortunately. My paternal grandfather who would have loved me more also passed away too soon. I never saw my paternal grandmother; she died in WWII during Japanese invasion of Hong Kong.

My two recent purchases

,

I recently made two purchases that make me very happy: Bose computer speakers and a pot of Christmas Cacti. The speakers provide very satisfactory high-quality sound that I had desired for over a year now. I got it with Thanksgiving gift money from family. The flowers was a spontaneous purchase on Monday, a cold rainy day. That day, on my way home after evening yoga class, I stopped by Safeway the grocery store to find a variety of flowers put on sale, most probably due to the lack of customers under poor weather and the misgiving over short life-span of flowers in a heated enclosed environment. I had always wanted a green plant or a small pot of flowery plant for indoors but never could make up my mind. That night the price for the Christmas Cacti was reduced to four bucks from six. Since it was so very pretty and affordable, I instantly decided to bring one home. There were two colours to choose. I chose orange over deep pink.

Waiting for an Easterly

,

You see I've fallen
And think that's my end
The truth is
When an easterly wind arrives
I will rise and dance again

Being stuck is not shameful
Up and down is normal
What you don't see is
I make things happen
And I also go with the flow
