life, fun

I recently made two purchases that make me very happy: Bose computer speakers and a pot of Christmas Cacti. The speakers provide very satisfactory high-quality sound that I had desired for over a year now. I got it with Thanksgiving gift money from family. The flowers was a spontaneous purchase on Monday, a cold rainy day. That day, on my way home after evening yoga class, I stopped by Safeway the grocery store to find a variety of flowers put on sale, most probably due to the lack of customers under poor weather and the misgiving over short life-span of flowers in a heated enclosed environment. I had always wanted a green plant or a small pot of flowery plant for indoors but never could make up my mind. That night the price for the Christmas Cacti was reduced to four bucks from six. Since it was so very pretty and affordable, I instantly decided to bring one home. There were two colours to choose. I chose orange over deep pink.

You see I've fallen
And think that's my end
The truth is
When an easterly wind arrives
I will rise and dance again
Being stuck is not shameful
Up and down is normal
What you don't see is
I make things happen
And I also go with the flow

Thai, eat-drink-man-woman

This is the most authentic Thai restaurant in the area. I read about it and had wanted to try it for sometime. I could not find it initially knowing only the street name, forgetting that it is a long street and without memorizing the restaurant name. But then I got to hear about how good it is again on my way when I stopped to ask around about it. It was a long trip, but it turns out to be worthwhile.

Let me be clear. I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.

You have a heart for adventure and a passion for travel. Even if can't visit some place new for a while, you still remain curious about the world.
You find it easy to be excited and optimistic about new things. You are fearless and believe that everything will work out in the end.

eat-drink-man-woman, life

What best can you do on a depressive gray October day in west coast Canada? Buy a live crab, stir-fry it with ginger and green onion, and have a feast.
Both dungeness crabs and wild chum salmons are cheap in October, but I prefer crab anytime.

life
Last evening when I was preparing to go to bed, I heard a sudden dripping noise in the bathroom. I found it strange as it had been a while since I last showered. Then to my horror I saw the dripping coming from the ceiling, directly into my bathtub.

eat-drink-man-woman, Chinese

Stir-fried oysters with ginger and green onion. A little salt, white pepper, sugar, and white wine does the trick. The oysters are a dozen a jar for $5.99 CND (sale price). I used six in this dish, saving the rest for later.

Belgian, eat-drink-man-woman
Saturday morning I got up early but the weather was terrible. I decided to brighten up my day by trying Belgian waffle for the first time. Luckily when I was ready to get out the sky had cleared up a bit.
